Eve Myles is starring in a new ITV thriller (Picture: Picture: ITV)

Tonight, the first episode of a new British psychological crime thriller will hit screens.

Starring Eve Myles and David Morrissey, the six-part crime thriller Gone centres on the cat-and-mouse tension between ‘gutsy’ detective Annie Cassidy (Eva) and straight-laced headmaster Michael Polly (David), who become the focus of her investigation into the disappearance of his wife.

Created by Georgie Kay – who was previously behind shows like Lupin, Hijack and The Long Shadow – the synopsis has teased: ‘An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life. Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.”

‘Beneath the surface of the mystery, lies a deeper exploration of trauma, trust and the legacy of elite institutions.’

Eve’s character as been described as a ‘rule-bending detective with an unwavering sense of justice’ with a complicated personal life.

Before tuning in, here’s everything we know about the actress’ own private life – including her relationship with a fellow actor.

Who is Eve Myles’s husband Bradley Freegard?

Eve, 47, is a Welsh actress who had her first major screen role in the BBC series Belonging, which she appeared in from 2000 until the end of the series nine years later.

During that time, she also appeared in Tales from Pleasure Beach and Colditz. After landing a role in an episode of Doctor Who in 2005 she was then cast as the lead in the series’ spin-off Torchwood, in which she played Gwen Cooper for four years.

Other major credits included Merlin, Frankie, You, Me & Them, Broadchurch and Victoria.

She is married to fellow actor Bradley Freegard, 49. He is best known for starring in Teulu, EastEnders, Casualty and Doctors. The couple have also acted alongside each other in the series Un Bore Mercher/Keeping Faith. He also played King Canute in the Netflix series Vikings: Valhalla.

Meeting Bradley at the National Youth Theatre in 1994, Eve once joked she ‘couldn’t get rid of him’.

‘He would knock on my dorm-room door all the time with Champagne and glasses he’d pinched from his mother’s house. Then one day I realised he was rather handsome!’ she once recalled.

He previously said of her: ‘I was attracted to her straight away, she’s got a fantastic personality and similar sense of humour as me, so we just get on really well.’

‘We’re both actors, this is our profession, it’s just what we do. The real reason I think we’ve been together so long and through so much is because we were with each other before things really started taking off.’

The couple then married in Italy in 2013. The ceremony was so small it only included one guest – their then three-year-old daughter Matilda.

‘It was heaven on earth,’ she told WalesOnline a month after the ceremony. ‘I’d put my wedding off three times because of work commitments. This time I said we’re not putting it off this time, we’re getting married this year.’

‘It was in the most beautiful villa, we sat on a big wedding table, with crystal chandeliers above us and we had our own waiter. Matilda was just happily running around. It was an amazing day,’ she continued.

‘And the day after we just visited Florence and Siena eating pizza and drinking cold beer. Italy is an amazing country.’

Discussing getting married to her long-term partner, she explained: ‘It does feel different from before, it’s a nice warm feeling. It is nice for Matilda to know that her mum and dad are married. We are all Myles-Freegards now.’

They couple now share three daughters.

Where does the couple live?

Eve and Bradley live in Cardiff, Wales.

Gone starts tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
