Tinseltown actress Jennifer Garner has spoken candidly about the relatively taboo subject of cosmetic surgery and why she can’t rule out getting a facelift in the future. The 53-year-old appeared on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast recently and covered everything from her Botox regrets to the possibility of going under the knife. Garner shares three children with her ex-husband Ben Affleck: Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 14. And it turns out that they all have somewhat strong opinions about what should and should not happen to their beloved mum’s face. (Picture: Instagram)
The 13 Going on 30 star was happy to admit that she’s had cosmetic tweaks. ‘Of course, I’ve tried Botox and all that, but it takes very little to completely freeze my forehead,’ she explained. ‘And then I just feel so conspicuous, like I’ve got a walking billboard.’ While she acknowledged that cosmetic treatments are common within the industry, she indicated that the loss of facial expression didn’t sit all that comfortably with her. The question of surgery has also come up at home. ‘My kids are like, “Mom, promise us you’ll never get a facelift.” And I say, “I am unlikely to rush toward a facelift”,’ she said. However, she stopped short of ruling it out entirely. ‘And yet I refuse to make that promise because I am me today, and I don’t know how I’m gonna feel tomorrow.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
She admitted that ageing isn’t always straightforward. ‘I have creasy wrinkles, and they’re gonna have to just be there,’ she said. Rather than seeking a permanent fix, she opts for smaller changes when she feels the need, adding: ‘So sometimes I get bangs.’ (Picture: AP)
Although she hasn’t had surgery (yet), Garner was pretty clear that she does consult professionals. ‘So don’t think that I don’t have something in there because I haven’t done surgery,’ she said. ‘I haven’t, I would tell you if I had. I haven’t done any of that stuff.’ She described visiting a specialist once a year and characterised the process with typical self-deprecating humour… (Picture: Apple TV)
‘Once a year, I go see someone, and I’m like, I’m a pin cushion. I can’t really tell the difference after because that’s what I’ve noticed: the more you spend on a dermatologist doing a bunch of things to your face, the less you can tell that they’ve done it. And somehow, that’s a good thing. I don’t know why. But I will go pay them so much money to say, “I don’t want to see it”.’ For Garner, subtlety appears to be the name of the game rather than opting for any real visible change as seen with some other Hollywood actors. Jennifer was careful to stress that her choices are entirely personal, though. ‘I also think that anyone who wants to do whatever they wanna do, they look beautiful. They all look beautiful,’ she said. (Picture: Apple TV via Getty Images)
Her remarks come as her ex Ben Affleck has also spoken publicly about their family. Speaking to E! News, he reflected on the pressures that accompany public life. ‘You put something on your children when you have a public life and that’s complicated,’ he said. ‘We really want to give them room to figure out what they want to do.’ He added: ‘I wouldn’t push them into that. They’re brilliant and lovely and wonderful and we love them and we’re proud of them. And hope that they don’t waste their life acting.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
