In tomorrow’s episode of Coronation Street, all eyes are on Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove), as her weird stalker Mal Roper (Tim Treloar) ends up in hospital.

Bernie met Mal earlier this year. She was consumed with grief following Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) death, and searched for a distraction through alcohol and drugs.

Nothing sexual happened between Bernie and Mal, but the time they spent together has, for some reason, left Mal with the view they have a romantic connection.

Mal isn’t a complete stranger to Weatherfield, as he also knows Roy Cropper (David Neilson). After Roy started texting a woman called Alice, the mother of a prisoner Roy was writing to, Mal burst into the café and revealed that Roy had been texting his wife.

The newcomer has started some electrical work at the café, which conveniently is also the same place Bernie works. Mal has tried time and time again to get close to Bernie, but she keeps telling him where to go.

Mal has failed to get the message, and believes Bernie is just taking a while to realise they have something worth fighting for. His warped view has left Bernie seriously concerned, as she isn’t sure whether Mal is ever going to get the message that they’re not going to be together.

Tomorrow night, Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) tells Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) about a bloke who was found in the street with a head injury. He takes a look at the file, and is shocked to recognise the name.

A while later, Kit arrives at the hospital with the intention of learning more about Mal’s injuries. Kit is taken aback when a doctor explains that the man is currently in a critical condition.

Given her recent interactions with Mal, Bernie is brought into the police station for an interview. She tells DC Browning that she spent the night with Mal, but only as friends and ever since then, he’s been stalking her.

But was she responsible for putting him in hospital?

Next week, Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) quizzes Kit and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) about the attack on Mal. As they share awkward glances, Brody senses they’re hiding something.
