After months of waiting, the funniest show on television (or Amazon Prime, at least) is back.

The Last One Laughing UK (LOL), a show where a group of comedians compete to see who will be the last one to… well… laugh, returned to our screens on March 19.

Joining hosts Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty in the LOL bunker this year are Alan Carr, Amy Gledhill, David Mitchell, Diane Morgan, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Maisie Adam, Mel Giedroyc, Romesh Ranganathan and Sam Campbell.

Best of all (not that we’re picking favourites), the LOL 2025 champion Bob Mortimer is back to defend his crown and maybe, if we’re lucky, treat us to another magic chows.

Still, while some of the biggest names in comedy are appearing on the second season, it was a surprise cameo that had fans losing their minds.

Richard Madeley, known to some as the real-life Alan Partridge and broadcaster extraordinaire to others, made a shock appearance in episode three, where he was interviewed by Sam.

‘Just started episode 3 and I can’t lie, I absolutely lost it when Richard Madeley appeared, 10/10 unexpected,’ wrote kelliphant on Reddit.

EarnTheCrown agreed, writing: [Richard’s] section was the funniest part out of the 3 eps for me.

Meanwhile, GlennSWFC was ‘absolutely perplexed’ how Sam didn’t get anyone with his interview.

‘That response to Richard saying it’s like talking to a soulless robot is one of the finest retorts I’ve ever heard,’ the continued. ‘So quick off the mark.’

Despite Richard stealing people’s hearts, the show’s return has gone down a storm, and there’s plenty of praise for the other comedians on social media.

‘Diane Morgan’s Joker in Last One Laughing is the funniest thing you’ll see this year,# wrote @MarcWilcox13 on X.

@1StevieKilner was similarly enthusiastic about Diane writing: ‘OK….only halfway through episode 2…..it’s brilliant and without giving anything away, if you don’t cry (laughing) when Diane Morgan plays her joker, you are officially dead, have something VERY bad going on in your life right now or live in Bolton.’

Meanwhile, @bromley001 said: ‘Watched the first three episodes of the new series of #LastOneLaughing this evening. I actually applauded at the preview of future episodes at the end of the first one. There was about two seconds of it in particular that got me very excited.’

It’s not just viewers who are loving the show. Metro’s own Sabrina Barr gave it five stars in her review.
