When it comes to supermarket bakeries, Lidl regularly takes the crown for the UK’s favourite.
From the cheese twists to the chocolate brownies, shoppers can’t get enough of the retailer’s bargain baked goods.
But, if like us, you’ve tried just about everything the bakery has to offer, we’ve got some good news for you… there are a few new items currently available.
Lidl currently has three ‘special guest’ items on sale in its supermarket bakery, with prices starting from just 79p.
First up, there’s a new Sugar Cronut (79p), as well as a Chocolate and Banana Loaf cake (99p).
But undoubtedly the star of the show right now is the Dubai Style Muffin (£1.99 or £1.49 with Lidl Plus), which is a chocolate muffin filled with a pistachio creme and Kadayf.
The whole thing is then drizzled with more vibrant green pistachio cream and topped with chopped pistachios.
The loaf and cronut will be available to buy for the next four weeks, but those who want to try the muffin will have to be quick, as the retailer confirmed to Metro that it’s about to disappear from the line-up.
You’ll only have until the end of the day on October 1 to get your hands on it, while supplies last.
Wondering whether it’s worth grabbing one before it’s gone?
Online the new muffin has had mixed reviews, with some outraged over the price of it, as a regular chocolate filled muffin costs 89p.
However, others thought it was the ‘best thing Lidl has ever brought out in its bakery’.
In a review on TikTok, a user known as @anglina.pj said: ‘It’s a bit on the spenny side for Lidl, but oh my god this has to be the best thing Lidl has ever brought out in its bakery. Like, no joke, it’s so moist, you can really taste the pistachio.’
She added: ‘I almost didn’t want to post this cause I know you all will just sell it out.
‘It’s a solid 10/10.’
Over on Instagram, @jamiedearx felt similarly, saying: ‘It looks absolutely delicious.
‘Oh my gosh, that is so soft and chocolatey, just so different to any other muffin I’ve tried.
‘It almost tastes like a Ferrero Rocher with the chocolate, the crunch and the nuttiness, but when you get to that cream it is sensational. It adds a fun texture as well.’
On Facebook people agreed the muffin ‘looked good’, but Julia Rubashenko commented it was ‘so pricey’ and Mary Brooke felt similarly, proclaiming: ‘How much?’
Others said it was ‘gorgeous’, ‘unreal’, ‘so nice’ and a ‘banger’.
This comes after Metro tried every item from Lidl’s bakery and ranked them from best to worst.
The Chocolate Iced Doughnut came out on top, being hailed the ‘perfect afternoon sweet treat’, closely followed by the Cheese Twist and Ultimate Chocolate Brownie.
At the other end of the scale the Stonebaked White Roll was our least favourite item.
