Lidl just brought back its ‘best ever’ bakery item — and it’s only 89p

Aside from its bargain prices and unpredictable central aisle, Lidl is well-known for one thing: its in-store bakery.

The retailer’s bakery has a cult following and several impressive accolades under its belt, including being crowned the nation’s favourite in 2024.

Shoppers go wild over the All Butter Croissant, with 122 of them selling every single minute. However, there’s one other item that never fails to send shoppers racing to the supermarket, proving a major rival for the classic pastry.

We’re talking, of course, about the Mini Egg Brownies.

These were last seen on the bakery shelves in March 2025, but ahead of Easter, Lidl has brought back the fan-favourite, and they cost just 89p each.

The seasonal item features a brownie base, with a layer of chocolate on top, scattered with pieces of colourful crushed Mini Eggs. These aren’t the Cadbury chocolate, but Lidl’s own-brand version of the sweet treat.

But this hasn’t stopped Lidl customers from raving about the product, with some hailing it the ‘best brownie ever’ in response to a post by New Foods UK on Facebook.

Tyanna Riddiford said: ‘These are absolutely amazing!!!’ As Helen Tyndall wrote: ‘Had one yesterday, best brownie EVER.’

And Emma Owen was stunned, saying: ‘I didn’t think they could get much better.’

Elsewhere on Facebook, Yasmin Lockett admitted she ‘couldn’t stop thinking about them’, while Helen Neilson claimed they were ‘unreal’.

Tiffany Hawkings agreed, saying: ‘They are delicious as I just had one.’

‘Okay, I’m a Lidl girlie now,’ added Micha McGhee, while a few others claimed they ‘needed’ to go to Lidl instantly to get one.

There was one complaint people had about the brownies, however, and it was all to do with their size. One shopper said they’d had to buy four as they just weren’t big enough; and similarly, Michelle Clark shared: ‘They were nice but sooooo small!’

It’s not currently known how long the Mini Egg Brownies will be available for, but they are a limited-time item in the bakery, meaning they’ll likely only be around for a few weeks, or until they sell out completely. So you’ll have to be quick if you want to try one.

If this weren’t enough, Lidl is also giving bakery fans another exciting treat, as it’s turned some of its most popular bakery items into Easter eggs for 2026.

Launching on March 1, the retailer is introducing a chocolate-shaped croissant, known as the Delxue Belgian Chocolate Croissant Bakery Egg, as well as a deluxe egg shaped like a doughnut.

The croissant features a golden caramelised white chocolate shell, with biscuit and shortbread pieces, finished with a milk chocolate drizzle and cocoa nibs, while the doughnut has a Belgian milk chocolate shell, blended with shortbread and fudge pieces, and topped with caramelised white chocolate and fudge sprinkles.

Both cost £9.99 each for shoppers with the Lidl Plus App, or £12.99 without it.
