M&S has turned ‘obscenely delicious’ biscuit into a giant new chocolate bar

If there’s one thing we know to be true, it’s that Marks & Spencer never fails to deliver on sweet treats.

Whether it’s Speckled Eggs or Chocolate Digestives, the retailer always has the perfect snack to pair with a cup of tea.

For many shoppers, it’s the chocolate-coated custard cream biscuits that are a must-buy, which see the quintessential British biscuit covered in a layer of glossy milk chocolate.

M&S sells them in regular packs, mini snack packs for lunch on the go, as well as in a large Easter Egg form, but the latest addition to the range might be the best one yet…

Introducing The Giant Outrageously Chocolatey Milk Chocolate Coated Custard Cream…

What is it?

Priced at £5, the new twist on the biscuit is a bar that’s essentially one large chocolate-coated custard cream. 

If you’re familiar with the M&S Big Daddy chocolate bars, then this is the type of size we’re talking about. 

But is it a chocolate bar or not?

Well, the box states that it’s ‘more chocolate than biscuit’, so presumably that’s your answer, but we’ll leave you to be the judge of that.

One thing is sure, though, this new item is bound to prove popular as the M&S chocolate-coated custard creams already have somewhat of a cult following.

In reviews on Ocado, the biscuits (£3 for six) have been hailed as ‘obscenely delicious’, ‘amazing’, ‘11/10’, ‘a game-changer of a biscuit’ and ‘the best biscuits’.

One five-star review reads: ‘These are amazing, a fabulous idea to add chocolate and custard creams even more perfect!’

And they’ve even managed to convert custard cream haters, with another saying: ‘I’m not a fan of custard creams, but these are so good. The chocolate is very thick. There are only six in a pack, but they are so rich I could only eat one in a sitting, so it’s fine.’

Photos and videos of the new giant custard cream bar have already started going viral online, with Brandon Spatcher on TikTok sharing a closer look at it.

Brandon, a product development assistant at M&S, reveals in his clip that he helped create the new bar, saying: ‘It was so much fun to develop and I’m so excited. Look how huge this is.’

He then breaks the bar in half and takes a bite, adding ‘all I need is a giant cup of tea’.

In the comments, @clairscraftycorner replied: ‘You need a Sports Direct mug with that.’

As @lailanova posted: ‘The giant custard cream is dangerous… I’ll take 10.’

Similarly, @emiiyjade proclaimed: ‘Omg it’s actually the best thing ever.’

Others said they were ‘running to the shops’ to nab a bar, and that it looks ‘insane’.

What else is new at M&S?

The giant chocolate-coated custard cream isn’t the only new product on the shelves in M&S Foodhalls; there’s also The Original Peanut Butter & Jelly Munch, Speckled Egg Cookie Dough, new ice cream sauces, and frozen chocolate-covered fruit, including strawberries and raspberries.

The new range also includes Big Daddy Popcorn, a mix inspired by the iconic bar, featuring salted caramel toffee popcorn coated in milk chocolate with roasted nibbed and ground peanuts, dark chocolate and butterscotch pieces.

Plus, there are Big Daddy Pistachio Bites, which feature smooth pistachio creme, caramel and crunchy roasted pistachio pieces covered in milk chocolate. M&S describes them as ‘mini but mighty, and irresistibly moreish’.
