Masked Singer UK host Joel Dommett was left wincing in pain after losing a bet to friend Ben Shephard – and being forced to get a nipple piercing.
The podcast hosting duo are documenting their journey launching a new men’s skincare brand on their show, The Business Men, to absolutely chaotic results.
Last week, This Morning host Ben Shephard revealed to Lorraine that the pair had made a bet that whoever got the fewest people to sign up to their skincare survey would face severe consequences, aka getting a nipple piercing.
Ben, 51, was none too keen on the idea, joking that his nipples were ‘national treasures’ and that his wife, Annie, wasn’t thrilled either.
Now, it looks as though Joel has landed the short end of the stick and, in a new clip recording the whole ordeal, we saw Ben at his bedside while a metal baby bar was stuck through his left nipple.
‘I absolutely hate it,’ the 40-year-old TV presenter declared and when asked by his gleeful co-host about how it felt, he quipped: ‘It feels like we better have a f***ing successful skincare brand.’
It seems, Ben has made a narrow escape, however, as he told the Daily Mail: ‘My knees gave way when I realised it was going to be Joel, because Annie said: “If you get your nipple pierced, don’t come home!” There was a lot riding on it. And to be fair, Joel’s wife Hannah was equally displeased.
‘I’ll be forever traumatised by watching that piercing happen. Joel is a pretty robust individual, but that was real pain when the needle went in – and I was only inches away.’
It’s not the only shocking moment the pair have experienced together this month.
Over the weekend it was revealed that Ben, who had also appeared on Masked Singer as a guest judge earlier on in the season, was actually finalist Conkers – much to everyone’s surprise.
Friend Joel fell to the floor in total shock, the Tipping Point presenter’s secret made even more impressive by the fact he had been interviewing eliminated Masked Singer contestants on This Morning with a straight face.
Discussing how he managed to keep it hidden, he said he simply feigned ignorance.
‘Davina was talking to me in the most minute detail about what happens when you’re a contestant on the show. I was asking her loads of questions,’ he said.
