The price of just about everything has gone up of late, including your favourite McDonald’s menu items.
We recently heard how the humble hash brown has risen to almost £2 – something fans have dubbed a ‘McRobbery’ – and certain meals at the fast food chain now cost as much as £10. (Yep, we’re looking at you, Friends meal).
If you’re missing the good old days when you could still get food at Maccies for under a fiver, a little-known hack might be just what you need.
According to UK customers, there’s an easy way to get a burger and fries for just £2.99, and supposedly you can use the trick an ‘unlimited’ number of times.
So, how do you do it?
Jordon Cox, known as @couponkiduk on social media, took to TikTok to share the voucher hack, and he says all you need is a recent receipt.
In his clip, he explains: ‘Never pay full price at McDonald’s. Your meal can be £2.99 every time.
‘When you get a receipt, if you quickly fill out the survey at the top, you’ll get a voucher for a £2.99 meal to your email.
‘When you use that voucher to get one of these cheap meals, you’ll get another receipt, so you can do it over and over again.’
What he’s talking about is a McDonald’s survey known as Food for Thoughts, which can be filled in at mcfoodforthoughts.com.
To take part, you have to have a valid receipt from McDonald’s from the last 60 days. From this, you’ll need to enter the 12-digit code at the top and the total amount of money you spent in order to get through to the survey.
Each code can only be used once and will have an expiry date.
Once you’ve been sent a £2.99 voucher, to redeem it, you can either scan the QR code it comes with, enter the 12-digit code at the digital kiosk, or present it to a crew member at the tills.
Each voucher can only be used for food purchased in physical restaurants and not for delivery.

What do you get for £2.99?
The £2.99 offer includes a choice of either a Big Mac, McChicken, Quarter Pounder, six Chicken McNuggets, a Fillet-O-Fish, or McPlant, with medium fries or a side salad.
The only thing you don’t get for this price is a drink, so if you want one, you’ll have to pay extra. But this is still a bargain, considering a Big Mac alone currently costs more than £5 in the UK.
Those in the Republic of Ireland can also complete the survey and get a Big Mac, Fillet-o-Fish, or Vegetable Deluxe, plus medium fries for €3.90.
While some social media users were thrilled by the idea of £2.99 meals ‘for life’, a few pointed out there is a flaw with the hack, as some claimed the QR codes don’t always scan on the digital kiosks. Others also pointed out that receipts aren’t always available either.
One way to avoid this is to use the code to order via the app; however, this might also prevent you from getting a physical receipt for your next meal.
Alternatively, you could do it the old-fashioned way and order via a member of staff at the till.
This comes after it was revealed that the world’s biggest McDonald’s had opened in Europe.
Located in the Disney Village at Disneyland Paris, the giant restaurant spans 2,000 square metres and cost more than €20 million to create.
According to Disneyland Paris, the new McDonald’s is ‘truly unique’, offering visitors a ‘high-quality and spectacular experience’.
Spanning three floors, the restaurant has seating for 600 people at one time, including 200 on outdoor terraces.
There are 23 self-service kiosks, a panoramic glass elevator, an ‘elegant’ McCafe, and table ordering via QR codes, as well as table service.
What’s more, all of the food is reportedly made-to-order, and across the 210 employees, staff members represent 16 different languages, so they are able to offer ‘personalised’ service to customers from around the world.
But perhaps the most exciting feature is a three-story indoor play area that’s ‘designed to extend the magic of Disney’ and ‘offer an unforgettable family experience’. It features tunnels, slides, and more.
