A pensioner has died following a car crash that sent two children to hospital.

The 87-year-old was driving a red Dacia Sandero when it collided with a blue Vauxhall Astra died on the A92, north of Rathillet in Fife yesterday.

His passenger, an 88-year-old woman, was taken to Ninewells Hospital alongside the 32-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall and his two passengers, aged seven and 13.

The crash took place around 10.40am on Saturday and the road reopened from 3pm later that day.

Sergeant Grant Hastie said: ‘Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding this crash.

‘We are keen to speak to any witnesses to the crash or anyone who may have dashcam from the area around the time.’
