Netflix’s top 10 movie chart has had a bit of a reshuffle this past week, with a mix of brand new thrillers, foreign dramas, returning favourites and a couple of animated hits suddenly surging into the spotlight. A tense missing-kid drama has raced up the list with a huge number of views, while everything from spooky cartoon antics to Korean romance fills out the rest of the list. Some of these watchable flicks have only just landed on the platform, while others have quietly blown up after weeks in the streaming giant’s catalogue. Either way, these are the 10 films that everyone around the world is currently streaming over on Netflix. Let’s check out what they are… (Picture: Netflix)

10. Pavane – 3,300,000 views last week

Directed by Lee Jong-pil and based on Park Min-gyu’s novel Pavane for a Dead Princess, this easy-watching South Korean drama follows three young people drifting through their twenties while working at a Seoul department store. Go Ah-sung, Byun Yo-han and Moon Sang-min play the central trio as friendships form and shift awkwardly and small frustrations pile up. Critics were generally warm on the performances and the film’s gentle tone, though anyone hoping for wild plot twists may want to bring patience – it’s a little slow going at times. 9. The World Will Tremble – 3,900,000 views

This challenging Holocaust drama centres on prisoners inside a Nazi extermination camp during World War II who begin planning an escape once they realise the terrifying scale of the atrocities unfolding around them. Rather than leaning on big war spectacle, the film keeps things tense and contained as the men weigh survival against the need to expose what’s happening. It is, admittedly, rather heavy subject matter and the story and tone doesn’t pretend otherwise. Still, serious historical dramas can often do pretty well on Netflix. And this one’s clearly found an audience willing to engage with its grim but worthy themes. (Picture: Netflix)

In this spooky sequel to the original hit animated version of the famous TV and film series, the macabre mob pack their bags and leave Chez Addams on a road trip. Worried that the kids are drifting away from them, Gomez and Morticia decide that some forced family bonding in a camper van is the answer. Unsurprisingly things don’t go quite to plan. Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz and Nick Kroll return to the voice cast, with Bill Hader also joining the fun. Critics were a little mixed on the sequel, but the Addams family’s oddball charm still does the job. (Picture: AP/MGM)

7. Hierarchy – 4,100,000 views

The impressive low-budget crime drama Hierarchy follows two adoptive Texan brothers whose lives start unravelling after they become tangled up with the wrong people for a heist. What begins as a small problem quickly grows into something far more dangerous as loyalty, resentment and desperation begin to collide in a really rather massive way. Directed by Russell K. Reed, the film stars Chiderah Uzowulu, Jenny Frame, Xavier Alvarado and Neyla Cantu. It’s low-key, but it’s starting to appear on a lot of people’s radars. (Picture: Netflix)

6. The Addams Family – 4,900,000 views

Joining the sequel in the charts is the original animated Addams adventure from 2019. It’s a film that reintroduces the famously gloomy household as they try to settle into suburban America while clashing with a scheming reality TV personality who isn’t exactly their biggest fan. The voice cast is impressive. There’s Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Snoop Dogg, Allison Janney, Martin Short and the late, great Catherine O’Hara (among others). 5. KPop Demon Hunters – 5,000,000 views

37 weeks Kpop Demon Hunters has been in the Netflix movie charts for now, if you can believe it. And you know what? We have to face up to the very real possibility that it simply will never leave. This animation will likely outlive humanity and, quite possibly, the world. In a billion years’ time, when the Earth is just a smouldering little mass of embers flying towards the Sun, about to be fully annihilated, the last sounds that the universe will hear from this once-great planet will be the fading noise created by the chorus of HUNTR/X’s Golden. Dinosaurs once again stomp their way onto the streaming charts with this, the latest in the seemingly endless and inexhaustible Jurassic Park/World movie franchise. The story imagines a world where prehistoric creatures have spread far beyond the original park and now exist alongside humans with predictably chaotic results. A group of specialists sets out to recover valuable genetic material from surviving dinosaurs, which turns out to be about as safe as it sounds. Not even Scarlett Johannsson, Jonathan Bailey and/or Mahershala Ali can save this. It’s just about watchable, but it’s not a patch on the original. 3. The Orphans – 6,600,000 views

The Orphans
Bruising French action thriller The Orphans marks stunt veteran Olivier Schneider’s move into the director’s chair after years working on films such as Spectre, Taken and several of the Fast & Furious entries. He co-wrote this film with star Alban Lenoir, who plays a tough cop forced to reunite with his long-estranged rival Idriss, played by Dali Benssalah. The pair grew up together in the same orphanage and still carry plenty of grudges towards others (and themselves). When a violent incident involving a teenage girl connected to their past spirals out of control, the two reluctantly join forces. Cue plenty of chaos, scraps and daft fun. (Picture: Inoxy Films)

2. Accused – 7,500,000 views

Accused
Hindi psychological thriller Accused follows a respected London surgeon whose life begins collapsing after anonymous allegations of sexual misconduct surface online. Konkona Sen Sharma plays Dr. Geetika Sen, a blunt but highly respected gynaecologist whose career and planned adoption suddenly hang in the balance as the claims spiral into a full and potentially very damaging investigation. Pratibha Ranta co-stars as her partner Meera, who begins questioning how well she really knows her wife. Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, the film drew mixed reviews from critics, though Sharma’s performance received a fair amount of praise. (Picture: Netflix)

Spanish language thriller Firebreak has raced to the top of Netflix’s global chart after pulling in more than 19 million views in just 10 days. The story follows a mother searching for her missing daughter after the girl disappears near their remote countryside home. As the search begins, a massive wildfire starts sweeping across the surrounding forest, turning an already desperate situation into something even more dangerous. It’s doing huge numbers in the Spanish-speaking world, but is proving more than exciting enough to reel in those that don’t speak the Iberian lingo too. Hence its place at the summit here.
