Nigeria to Host Inaugural AfCFTA Hackathon to Drive Intra-African Trade

Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPRE), will host the inaugural African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Hackathon.

This event aims to leverage the talents of African innovators to develop digital solutions that facilitate intra-African trade and economic integration.

The hackathon will bring together developers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers from across the continent to create platforms and tools that address challenges in cross-border commerce, logistics, and regulatory compliance. By leveraging technology, the initiative seeks to enhance the implementation of the AfCFTA agreement, promoting seamless trade among African nations.

Participants will engage in collaborative problem-solving sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs, culminating in the presentation of innovative solutions to a panel of experts. Winning projects may receive support for further development and potential deployment across member states.
