Fighting in Ukraine has resumed following the Easter ceasefire, as stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. He expressed that Moscow is receptive to any peace proposals and anticipates a similar response from Kyiv.
Both Ukraine and Russia have accused one another of carrying out thousands of attacks and breaching the Kremlin’s unilateral ceasefire during the Easter period.
“We maintain a positive outlook towards a truce, which is why we proposed such an initiative, particularly during this significant Easter season,” Putin conveyed to state TV reporter Pavel Zarubin.
“We have consistently expressed our openness to any peace initiatives. We hope that the representatives of the Kyiv government will share this sentiment,” he continued.
The United States has indicated that it would support an extension of the ceasefire, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has repeatedly affirmed Ukraine’s readiness to agree to a 30-day pause in strikes on civilian infrastructure during the conflict.
Putin remarked that Russia needs to thoroughly evaluate this and other proposals.
