An ‘iconic’ TV villain has issued a hilarious rebuttal after fans complained that scheduling conflicts on his TV series were ‘not a good enough’ excuse.

Known for being one of the ‘best TV villains ever’, Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) is played by Vincent D’Onofrio in the Marvel superhero series Daredevil: Born Again, who serves as Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) nemesis.

However, following the release of season two of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney Plus this week, fans quickly spotted the high profile absence of Jon Bernthal’s anti-hero Frank Castle, who was confirmed to not be making an appearance.

This came before it was announced that Bernthal’s The Punisher character will have a one-off special episode the week after Daredevil’s season two finale, before his appearance in the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day film.

Reacting on social media, viewers slammed this scheduling conflict as ‘not good enough’ and upsetting, as Alessia argued: ‘This doesn’t add up.’

Ryan also wrote on X: ‘So it was scheduling conflicts. Couldn’t they have MADE time?’

However, asked about Bernthal not featuring in Daredevil, D’Onofrio said on the social media app: ‘If John wasn’t busy making his own hour long Punisher film and hangin with that insect we would have wanted him to join us in Season 2 for sure.

‘Yet he had a wonderful opportunity to do the other projects and i for one can’t wait to see him in those.’

Agreeing with D’Onofrio, many fans saw the positive side of Bernthal not featuring in Daredevil, and claimed that his The Punisher special and Spider-Man appearance is an ‘overall win’.

Commenting beneath, Aman said: ‘This is exciting for Marvel fans… Looks like they are planning a strong and engaging rollout.’

Meanwhile, Erik added: ‘This might be the best stretch of MCU we’ve seen since 2016-2017, Civil War through Ragnarok?’ as Devin claimed: ‘The golden era has begun.’

Dean also argued: ‘Excellent strategy to have Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 segue right into the Punisher Special Presentation… This will tie directly into new Spider Man movie!’

This comes after fans previously declared Bernthal and Cox’s reunion the ‘best scene ever’ last year after a nine-year wait.

Nine years after he and Charli last shared the screen in their comic book roles, their reunion finally took place.

Astonished, fans described the scene as ‘jaw-dropping’ and ‘magnetic’.

The first episode of Daredevil: Born Again season two is available to stream on Disney Plus.
