Peaky Blinders is officially coming back to the BBC for two more seasons.
Writer and creator Steven Knight is set to return to tell the story of a new generation of Shelbys.
However, conspicuously absent from the official BBC announcement is any mention of show star Cillian Murphy, confirmed the Oscar-winner will not be back to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby.
In the official announcement, Knight, said: ‘I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.
‘Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz.
‘The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride.’

Writer and creator Steven Knight is set to return to tell the story of a new generation of Shelbys, filmed and set in Birmingham.
However, conspicuously absent from the official BBC announcement is any mention of show star Cillian Murphy, which seems to indicate the Oscar-winner will not be back to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby.
He will however return in some capacity, because the two new series, which will be six episodes each, list Murphy as one of the show’s executive producers.
Set in Britain in 1953, the official synopsis for the ‘new era’ of the series reads: ‘After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel.

In the official announcement, the show creator Knight said: ‘I’m thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story.

The Peaky Blinders announcement comes off the back of Knight’s Netflix hit with House of Guinness, which tells the Succession-style story of the family that built the Guinness beer empire.
The two six-part seasons will air on BBC One in the UK and will be released on Netflix globally.

The Irish actor starred in the BBC series from 2013 until 2022 and will be back for the ‘explosive’ Netflix movie.
The upcoming movie from the crime show’s creator Steven Knight will be an ‘no holds barred’ chapter in the story.
Barry Keoghan and Rebecca Ferguson are set to co-star in the movie, with a release date yet to be announced.
Peaky Blinders, which ran from 2013 to 2022 for six seasons, followed the rise of the Shelby family from after the First World War, and the film is now expected to pick up a few years later, going into the Second World War.
Peaky Blinders is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
