Fallen Debris on Filipino Land
In a global issue, the danger of rocket debris from China has led to increased alertness in the Philippines, particularly in areas like Palawan and Basilan, which have been elevated to a state of high vigilance for possible fallen debris. The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) has issued alerts suggesting that parts of rockets could land in coastal regions near Iroquois Reef, creating threats to maritime operations, even though these specific zones are largely uninhabited. The agency pointed out that the Philippines’ geographic location, located southeast of China, heightens the likelihood of such debris entering its exclusive economic zone, as rockets are generally launched eastward over water for better safety and efficiency. Critics have denounced this issue, branding it as China’s “intentional pollution” of international maritime territories, according to reports from South China Morning Post.
