He’s the baby monkey who has captured hearts around the world.

And now the story of Punch the tiny primate and his beloved teddy bear has been immortalised in an eye-catching piece of jewellery.

The golden grill captures both cuddly characters sitting in front of a enamel bamboo panels.

Punch went viral after he was abandoned at just a few days old. His teddy became his only friend in the world and photographs of their tender cuddles moved even the hardest of hearts.

The grill has been created by Homer the Jeweller. Renowned for his detailed work, he used traditional lost-wax casting to form the gold base before painstakingly hand-painting Punch and his stuffed companion.

But it wasn’t just the sculpting that took precision.

Homer spent hours perfecting Punch’s eyes, knowing that the slightest mistake would remove the heart of the piece.

‘It was all about capturing the soul of the monkey,’ he said. ‘If the eyes weren’t right, it wouldn’t feel real.’

Earlier this week, it was revealed Punch had been accepted by his troop of monkeys.

New pictures showed an adult monkey named Onsing hugging him tightly.
