'Trump is largely incapable of constructing a coherent sentence'
Chris Shepherd (MetroTalk, Tue) says those who oppose the US attack on Iran show ‘little understanding of contemporary history or political realities’.
He then goes on to write a paean for Donald Trump’s foreign policies and make a series of accusations against Barack Obama, Sir Keir Starmer and the Greens.
Of Obama, the writer says he ‘may be far more articulate than Trump’. He ‘may’ be!?
The truth is that Trump is largely incapable of constructing a coherent sentence which, unfortunately, mirrors the clarity of his thoughts.
Iran ‘is determined to make a nuclear weapon and destroy Israel,’ claims Mr Shepherd and he suggests ‘it is a simple as that’. It is not. Israel has nuclear weapons too and it is generally recognised that the current US attack on Iran is influenced by the wishes of the Israeli government.
Britain ‘no longer has military capabilities that the US needs’ opines Mr Shepherd. I was unaware we maintained armed forces in case the US might have need of them. And should we all be frightened because, according to Mr Shepherd, ‘the Iranian government has flooded Britain with agents’? Any evidence for this? He also says the Green Party ‘plays straight into their hands’. Oh, yes – I always suspected that Zack Polanski was a secret supporter of Nazi nihilist mullahs!
Lastly, Mr Shepherd gives the game away by saying we should be ‘supporting the destruction of the Iranian leadership and its replacement with more compliant leaders’. Not democratic leaders, not leaders who believe in the rule of law, not leaders who put the needs of their population first but leaders who comply with the wishes of foreign governments. ‘Patriotic tax-avoiders are flocking back to our shores’, says reader
With forecourt prices on the rise, mightn’t it be wise for our country to commit to a high-speed, environmentally responsible mass transit system? If only there were some scheme already in place…
As luck would have it, now that all these patriotic tax-avoiders are flocking back to our shores – seeking shelter from the instability afflicting their adopted homelands in the United Arab Emirates, like wayward children running home to mother – no doubt the Treasury’s coffers will soon be swollen and we will shortly be able to start spending more on our nation’s infrastructure. Julian Self, Wolverton
Will Iran see UK as a target?
Let’s be real here. If we get any more involved in the new war in the Middle East, then Iran will see us as a target, just like Qatar and the UAE.
And if Iran’s extremist regime can’t attack us directly, they will attack us indirectly – just like we saw with the 7/7 bombings, which were an indirect retaliation for the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. JWA Caley, St Pancras

This reader doesn’t think he Iran war is connected to the Epstein files
Why do people like Drew (MetroTalk, Tue) think everything that happens in the world – the attack on Iran included – is related to the Epstein Files?
Most people agree that getting rid of the crazy leaders of Iran is good for the world.
Not everyone will sit quietly like Sir Keir Starmer, waiting for someone else to protect their military bases or make the world a better place.
Millions of documents contained in the Epstein Files are available. Do people think there are still any secrets? Raj, Harrow
