A political support group aligned with Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has publicly declared its backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while also endorsing Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, for continued leadership support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group, operating under the banner of a Renewed Hope-aligned structure, made the declaration during an event where it also inaugurated ambassadors and new state leadership in Lagos.
The endorsement adds to a growing list of political groups mobilising support for both federal and state-level continuity within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Remi Tinubu Support Group Backs Tinubu, Hamzat
The endorsement was announced after consultations among members of the organisation, who said their decision was based on what they described as visible progress recorded under the current administration.
According to group representatives, President Tinubu’s economic and governance reforms require continuity in order to fully achieve long-term stability and national development. They argued that policy consistency remains key to sustaining ongoing restructuring efforts at the federal level.
The group also expressed confidence in the leadership style of Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as a quiet but effective administrator who has contributed significantly to governance and infrastructural development in Lagos State.
Although different organisations have made similar endorsements in recent weeks, the latest declaration from a Remi Tinubu-linked support structure has further amplified political mobilisation within Lagos and other parts of the country.
Group Praises Governance Continuity and Reform Agenda
Leaders of the group said their support for President Tinubu is rooted in what they described as difficult but necessary reforms being implemented at the federal level.
They noted that economic restructuring policies, fiscal adjustments, and institutional reforms introduced by the administration require time to mature and deliver measurable results. According to them, reversing or interrupting such policies could affect national stability and long-term development outcomes.
The endorsement from the support group also highlighted Lagos State’s governance structure, praising Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for his contributions to technology-driven administration and infrastructure development.
Hamzat, who has served in various public offices over the years, including as Lagos State Commissioner for Science and Technology, has been widely associated with digital governance initiatives and urban development reforms in the state.
Political Mobilisation Intensifies Ahead of 2027
Political activities across Nigeria have continued to intensify as parties and allied groups position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Within the ruling APC, several support groups have emerged to consolidate backing for both President Tinubu and key political figures at the state level. Analysts say such endorsements are part of broader early-stage mobilisation efforts aimed at strengthening party unity and electoral advantage.
The endorsement is also seen as part of a wider narrative of continuity politics, where stakeholders argue that ongoing reforms should not be disrupted by leadership changes.
In Lagos, where Hamzat currently serves as Deputy Governor, political alignments have increasingly focused on continuity, governance stability, and infrastructure expansion as key campaign themes.
Remi Tinubu Support Group on Expanding Grassroots Mobilisation
The support group led by Remi Tinubu announced plans to expand its grassroots mobilisation structure across Lagos State and other regions to build wider backing for Tinubu, Hamzat and other endorsed candidates.
It stated that its objective is to engage citizens at community levels, promote the achievements of the current administration, and encourage participation in democratic processes ahead of the next election cycle.
Observers note that such mobilisation efforts are likely to play a significant role in shaping early political narratives as the country moves closer to the 2027 elections.
Therefore, the endorsement from the support group adds momentum to ongoing political realignments, with attention now turning to how various support structures will influence voter sentiment in the months ahead.
