This article contains spoilers for tonight’s episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer.
Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) has been made homeless as a result of son Joel’s (Max Murray) sickening attack on Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig).
Last week, Vicki directly addressed Joel’s misogyny, and their conversation soon turned heated.
Joel punched the wall, and then was so infuriated by her words that he felt it was acceptable to punch her, knocking her onto the floor.
He then proceeded to record her on his phone as he kicked her body and she whimpered in fear, unable to move.
When Vicki fled to The Vic for safety, Joel asked Tommy Moon (Sonny Kendall) to hide him away in the Slaters’ garage.
However, back at home, Ross was discovering the extent of his son’s behaviour when he found the footage of the attack. Sickened, he reported him to the police.
As Joel was carted away, Ross watched on emotionless.
Ross backtracks on his decision to support Vicki
In yesterday’s installment, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) warned Ross to ensure he had his priorities right – Vicki should come first, not vile abuser Joel.
She also asserted that should Joel be released, he isn’t welcome in her home.
He agreed, and during a visit to the hospital, was alarmed to hear Vicki brand the teen a ‘psychopath’.
Hearing Joel described in such a horrific way clearly hit hard, and he headed to the police station to watch his interview from afar.
Joel claimed that what happened was an accident, and he merely shoved Vicki and knocked her to the ground.
He then proceeded to wish that his dad were dead, and Ross was horrified. His true colours had really shone through.
Vicki’s furious with Ross’ decision
In tonight’s episode, Vicki discovered that Ross had gone to see Joel and wasn’t happy. She felt this was a complete betrayal of his earlier commitment to stand by her.
Desperate to prove that he still loved her, he admitted that he was the one who dobbed Joel in. There was a problem though – Vicki had no idea that the video he’d taken of her existed.
She was mortified, branding him ‘evil’ and a ‘monster’. Aghast at his suggestion that they can move on, she firmly told him that she can’t be part of any family that includes Joel.
Later, when Ross returned home, he was gobsmacked to find Zack Hudson (James Farrar) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) packing his bags – Vicki wanted him out.
When she returned home from hospital, Ross sat on the street corner with bin bags full of his possessions.
Is his time in Walford coming to an end?
