Netflix fans have described the third season of a ‘gripping’ sci-fi series as one of the best the streaming platform has ever created.
Japanese thriller Alice in Borderland has finally returned almost three years after season two was released.
The dystopian show – often compared to Squid Game for itslife-and-death stakes and unapologetic gore – sees obsessed gamer Arisu suddenly find himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo where he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive.
However, in the latest season Arisu is forced to return to the games after ‘Usagi is abducted and left unconscious by a mysterious scholar obsessed with the afterlife,’ an official synopsis reads.
In his journey he connects with a series of new players in an effort to overcome The Joker phase of the game ‘to find a way back to their original world’.

This comes after a legendary sequel that fans claim ‘surpasses the first film in every way’ just arrived on Netflix in the UK.
Earlier this week, The Godfather Part II was made available to Netflix subscribers.
It was added on Thursday alongside The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, a 2020 recut version of the much-maligned The Godfather Part III.
Coming two years after The Godfather had taken Hollywood by storm in 1972, making a star of its relative unknown leading man Al Pacino and cementing director Francis Ford Coppola as a filmmaker of note, the famous sequel is also a prequel.
Season three of Alice in Borderland is now available to watch on Netflix.
