The M&S bakery aisle has been leaning into Easter, with it’s quirky hot cross bun range, and a themed version of the viral Cookie Cup.
But perhaps the biggest Easter treat for M&S fans has been the triumphant return of the retailer’s iconic Speckled Egg Cookies.
The oh-so-gooey cookies have proved so popular that customers have admitted to waking up at 6am just to get their hands on a fresh batch.
And now, there’s a new bakery item, packed full of those all-important Speckled Eggs that’s sending fans into a frenzy: the Speckled Egg Brownie.
First spotted on M&S shelves on March 24, the supermarket has officially launched the chocolatey treat, which they’re calling ‘the ultimate gooey brownie for your springtime cuppa’.
The new snack features a fudgy triple brownie ‘generously frizzled with white chocolate and scattered with our iconic, exclusive recipe Speckled Eggs.’
The indulgent goodie serves six and is made in small batches in Cheltenham. M&S say you can ‘chop into square for sharing… or don’t!’
One customer who set off in search of the sweet treat revealed to her followers on TikTok that she’d actually been convinced the creation was AI until she saw it for herself.
The content creator, Alex Stephens, was visibly relieved when she spotted the brownie on the shelf, noting: ‘I can confirm, for anyone looking for this — it is real, it’s not AI!’
Like so many of M&S’s product launches, taste tests of the Speckled Egg Brownie have already begun cropping up across social media.
Fans have described the snack as ‘a dream brownie’, noting that if you microwave it for just 15 seconds, the results are ‘absolutely unreal’.
Foodie duo Sofia and Arran, content creators who are always some of the first to try new product launches, went to two different M&Ss in search of the brownie.
Finally sitting down to do a taste taste, the couple noted: ‘That is incredible, it’s a lot better than I thought it would be — a proper brownie’.

Another TikToker, Cal Edwards, even went as far as to say that he preferred the brownie over the Speckled Egg cookies.
A bold statement.
If you want to try the Speckled Egg Brownie, it’s currently available in an M&S store near you for £6.
While the supermarket haven’t said how long it’ll be on the shelves, it’s likely to be a seasonal launch, disappearing after Easter, so be sure to give it a try while you still can.

How do M&S Speckled Eggs compare to Cadbury’s Mini Eggs?
The Metro team recently conducted a blind taste test of Mini Eggs, sampling treats from M&S, Morrisons, Waitrose, Aldi, and Lidl, as well as branded versions by Cadbury and Poppets.
We scored each of the eggs across five different categories, including appearance, texture, size, value for money, and taste, giving each product a potential maximum score of 100.
In the end, there was one supermarket own brad that managed to secure a victory over Cadbury’s iconic version, winning by one point.
Was it Marks & Spencer’s Speckled Eggs? These eggs initially divided the team, as they’re quite a bit bigger than the usual ones, but they rated highly for overall taste, garnering 18 points out of a possible 20 due to the ‘creamy’ and ‘indulgent’ chocolate, which people agreed seemed ‘high quality’.
