A reliable leaker has revealed when Starfield will arrive on PS5, as one of the last Xbox exclusives finally looks set to hit Sony’s console.

We’ve seen a huge stack of Xbox exclusives make the jump to PlayStation 5 in recent years, including Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, Forza Horizon 5, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 – but one key absence has been Starfield.

A PlayStation 5 version of Bethesda’s sci-fi role player has been rumoured for a long time, and has felt practically inevitable amid Microsoft’s multiplatform pursuits. Now, over two years after it originally launched on Xbox Series X/S and PC, it looks like it’s finally dropping next month.

According to extremely reliable leaker billbil-kun, who is almost never wrong, Starfield will launch on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026 in both physical and digital formats.

Like the Xbox version, it will launch in standard and premium editions, the latter of which will not come with any early access period.

The biggest surprise is how much the game will cost on PlayStation 5. According to the report on Dealabs, Starfield’s standard edition will be priced £44.99, while the premium edition will set you back £59.99.

It’s notably cheaper than Starfield’s launch price on Xbox Series X/S (£69.99) and other recent Xbox games on PlayStation 5. In fact, Indiana Jones And The Great Circle still costs £69.99 on the PlayStation Store, while Forza Horizon 5’s standard edition, which is five years old at this point, is still £54.99.

Indiana Jones and Forza Horizon 5 are both much better games than Starfield, but it feels like a strange admission by Microsoft that it is lesser in comparison, if the price does turn out to be accurate.

Bilbil-kun doesn’t say explicitly when Starfield on PlayStation 5 will be announced, but they claim pre-orders will open on March 18, or the evening of March 17, 2026, so it will likely be around that timeframe.

It’s unclear if Starfield’s launch on PlayStation 5 will coincide with the next planned expansion. Speaking last month on the Kinda Funny Gamescast, Bethesda’s Todd Howard tempered expectations for those hoping for a major overhaul.

‘It is not Starfield 2.0,’ Howard said. ‘You know, I’ve seen some of that, so for expectation-setting, I think it’s the king of thing where if you love Starfield, we think you’re going to love this. It’s updates and things that change the game, not in an isolated way, but sort of meta. Using outer space and things in ways that we haven’t.’

This next slice of DLC will follow 2024’s first major expansion, Shattered Space, which was even worse received than the main game. It added new factions, creatures, and bosses, along with a new moon location named Va’ruun’ kai.
