Many of Benefit’s makeup products have earned a legendary status in the beauty industry.
From its pore-smoothing primers to lash-lengthening mascara, buttery-soft bronzing powders, and pretty lip stains, it has a long list of cult favourites among beauty lovers.
The newest addition to its lengthy makeup range is not one, but two, new blushes. First is a Juice Stick Cream Dewy Gel Blush, in a colourful stick format, costing £30.
The second is a Play Daze Airy Liquid Blush, also £30, with a doe-foot applicator. Both come in five shades, ranging from vibrant pops of pink to subtle peachy hues, bright reds, and deep purples.
The two blush products offer something different depending on how you love to brighten up your cheeks. The gel blush stick has a dewy, high-shine finish that can be dabbed onto skin to leave you looking radiant and flush with colour. Think Bridgerton-inspired flushes of colour.
Meanwhile, the liquid blush has a soft-focus, matte finish that gently blurs the skin and adds a warm hue of colour in subtle and statement shades.
As someone who is a bit wary of blush – looking like a clown is my biggest beauty fear – I gravitate towards the sheer blush formats, and love an easy-to-blend, forgiving formula that’s flattering without spotlighting the rosacea that spreads across my cheeks.
So I’ve put Benefit’s brand-new blushes to the test so see if they deliver and are worth the £30 price tag. Here’s what I discovered…
Benefit Juice Stick Cream Dewy Gel Blush
If you’ve been obsessing over the makeup in Bridgerton and Wuthering Heights and that flushed cheek-look, this is the perfect blush to recreate that windswept finish. Plus, I love the packaging – it’s fun, colourful and easy to spot in your makeup bag.
The Benefit Juice Stick Cream Dewy Gel Blush is a sheer jelly-texture stick, which I liked to apply straight to my cheeks and blend with my fingers. It’s fuss-free to apply, seamless to blend and doesn’t require much skill to make skin look instantly brighter.
I lose the shade Figgy, a cool-toned purple pink, that at first, does look daunting for my pale skin, but thanks to the sheer colour payoff, doesn’t leave you looking like a clown.
Given its radiant finish, it also doubles up as a highlighter, adding the perfect amount of sheen to that healthy-looking glow.
I found it layers well over my favourite foundations, skin tints, bronzers and concealers, but given its jelly format, it’s not as long-lasting as a powder blush, so it’s worth popping in your handbag for top-ups if you’re out of the house all day.
Benefit Play Daze Airy Liquid Blush
The second of Benefit’s new blushes is this liquid version. Unlike the gel blush above, the velvety texture blends into a matte finish, adding an airbrushed blur to cheeks.
It’s ideal if you’re like me and have oily skin, so you’re constantly trying to minimise shine. It does all that for you and blends from a liquid into a powder that doesn’t fade or smudge.
It’s also very easy to work with; the best way I’ve found is with a tapered, fluffy brush to smooth over cheeks.
I like that it’s buildable, you can’t go too wrong with it, and it adds that perfect natural flush of colour. It comes in five shades, but my go-to for pale, rosacea-prone skin is Apricotta, a pretty peachy-orange.
