If you have rosacea like me, you’ll know how frustrating it can be trying to calm your skin down and cover it with makeup. Skincare products can often do more damage than good, and they can flare up in blotchy patches, bumps or itchiness.

This, coupled with environmental triggers like alcohol (red wine is a common culprit), extreme cold or hot weather conditions, stress, and even some foods, means building a beauty routine that actually works can be a huge faff.

As someone who has struggled with rosacea for years across my cheeks, nose and chin, I’ve tried pretty much everything, but only a very small selection of products have actually worked. My latest find is Erborian’s new and improved Centella Redness Range, which has firmly landed a permanent spot in my everyday routine.

You may already know about Erborian’s CC Red Correct, a clever cream that’s packed with green pigments to colour correct redness, then adjust to your skin tone.  It provides medium coverage with a radiant finish, and I have used it almost daily instead of foundation for the past two years.

It now has an updated formula, with SPF30, and a whole host of ingredients that neutralise any areas of redness on my skin, without the need for thick makeup. But that’s not all, Centella Crème – a soothing moisturiser – has also had a makeover and updated packaging.

The brand has added two new products to the line-up, a Centella Red Serum and Centella Barrier Cream, which I’ve been testing to see if they deliver on their promise of delivering calmer, more even-looking skin.

Here’s my verdict…

Thin green tube

Erborian’s CC Red Correct

This is my favourite product for tackling redness in my make-up routine. It has a green creamy texture that, when you blend in, adapts to your skin tone for an even-toned, luminous finish.

It conceals inflammation, blemishes and dark circles all in one, but doesn’t feel like a foundation on the skin.

Skin looks smooth and blemishes blurred, and if you want more coverage, it’s easy to layer with your chosen concealer or fuller coverage foundation over the top, but I find it’s enough all on its own.

Green tube of Erborian Centella Crème

Erborian Centella Crème

This is a lovely lightweight moisturiser designed for combination skin.

The formulas contain centella asiatica and hyaluronic acid to both calm redness and hydrate skin.

After just a month of everyday use, I noticed a reduction in redness and a smoother, more balanced complexion.

It’s not greasy, thick or heavy and layers well under makeup without causing any pilling.

Erborian Centella Red Serum

If you’re looking to add a redness-reducing serum into your routine instead, this ticks every box.

It’s not sticky, tacky, nor does it take ages to rub into skin, and I noticed a reduction in my everyday redness after just a couple of days.

It’s ideal if your skin is reactive, sensitive and hard to calm.

Rosacea can also cause dry, rough, or scaly skin, in which case, you need more than a lightweight serum to boost moisture.

This thicker, richer version of Erborian’s moisturiser does just that, and can also be used on your body, too.

I think of this as my emergency cream when my skin is in the midst of a flare-up, and I need immediate relief.
