Teyana Taylor has been caught up in a tense clash with a man backstage at the Oscars.

The One Battle After Another star was nominated for best supporting actress at last night’s event, however the award went to Weapons’ Amy Madigan.

Soon after missing out on taking home the trophy, Teyana was filmed confronting a man she claimed had pushed her as she tried to move through a crowd.

In a clip posted to social media, she was seen pointing angrily at someone off camera, the visibly upset actress raised her voice and declared: ‘You’re a man putting his hands on a female.’

‘You’re very rude. You’re very rude. You’re very rude.’

Then turning to an attendee who had approached her to check in, Teyana explained what had just happened and could be heard saying: ‘Cause he put his hands on a female.’

She then accused the man of pushing her, saying: ‘He literally shoved me.’ Then referencing another woman nearby, she added: ‘He was damn near shoving her too.’

The clip then ended with Teyana making it clear what had got her so incensed, telling those gathered around her: ‘Do not touch me, do not shove me, do not push me.’

The incident comes after the actress had a strong awards season leading up to the Oscars.

In recent months she’d won best supporting actress at the Golden Globes, whilst also being nominated for a Critics’ Choice award, a Bafta, and a NAACP Image award.

Although Teyana missed out on an Oscar, One Battle After Another swept the awards ceremony – picking up six gongs.

In the film, Teyana plays Perfidia Beverly Hills – a character who displays her sexuality while being objectified by two White men, played by Penn and Leonardo DiCaprio.

However, after some questioned the character’s portrayal, she previously insisted the thriller gets things spot on.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year, she said: ‘Is that not what Black women go through? We are fetishised, especially by creepy motherf***ers.’

She added that Black women are ‘the least protected people’, and that the film was doing its job by encouraging difficult conversations.

‘Showing what Black women go through, that’s a hard reality to accept. And this movie should spark debate, I always knew it would, because sometimes you just got to shake the table.’

In the movie, Teyana’s character Perfidia is a member of the French 75 revolutionary group.

As well as her romance with Bob, she forms a physical relationship with Steven, and Teyana previously insisted her character was ‘misunderstood’ but still not likable.

Speaking at CinemaCon in April before the film’s premiere, she said: ‘She’s always in survival mode. She’s very misunderstood, but she’s still selfish.’

Metro has contacted representatives for Teyana Taylor for comment.

TMZ has now reported that the man she was speaking to was a security guard, with the incident unfolding seconds after the broadcast ended as Teyana was attempting to head back onstage for the best picture photo with her One Battle After Another costars.

However the publication reported that the guard attempted to stop her and Warner Bros. co-head Pam Abdi from going up the stairs, using his body to block Taylor and put his hands on her, ‘trying to physically hold her back and push her away from the stage to prevent her from getting past him’.

The incident comes after the actress had a strong awards season leading up to the Oscars.

Aside from being a hugely successful actress, Teyana is also a Grammy-nominated songwriter, dancer and choreographer.

She rose to fame as a teenager when, aged just 15, she choreographed the video for Beyonce’s Ring the Alarm, going on to work with Jay-Z and Kanye West – who later signed him to his record label.

Her fourth album Escape Room, which was released last year, was nominated for best R&B album at the Grammys.

On screen she’s also appeared in Stomp the Yard: Homecoming, Madea’s Big Happy Family, The Rip and All’s Fair.
