The Traitors’ victor Rachel Duffy has shared that her mum Anne has died, following a diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

Rachel became the first female Traitor to win and split the prize pot with Stephen after Friday’s unpredictable series four finale, taking home £47,875.

The comms executive had said she had planned to use the BBC murder mystery prize money to pay for a dream holiday with her mum, who celebrated her 70th birthday in March.

She has now shared that her mum has died, writing on an Instagram Story: ‘We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beautiful wee mummy,’ alongside a broken heart emoji.

‘We kindly ask for privacy as our family grieves during this difficult time.’

During the show’s hugely popular run this January, Rachel had shared a photo of her mum in an armchair holding up a white t-shirt reading: ‘My daughter’s a Traitor’.

‘Mummy was just 47 when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s (four years older than I am now) and now faces dementia but still amazes me and my family every single day,’ Rachel added in the post caption.

‘Everything she has done for me and my four siblings is nothing short of incredible. Sharing caring responsibilities over the years for her has been a privilege and we are so proud to call her our mum.

‘She wanted to show off her t-shirt — so say hi and be kind or I might just murder you,’ she concluded, tongue-in-cheek, to her Instagram followers.
