For years, the world’s largest McDonald’s has been located in Orlando, Florida – but it’s finally been dethroned.
An even bigger site has just opened its doors to fast food fans, and it might surprise some to learn it’s not in the US.
The giant site, spanning 2,000 square metres, is just a three-hour journey by train from London, and can be found just outside of Disneyland Paris.
It’s located inside the Disney Village by the theme park and is described as an ‘ultramodern’ building that cost more than €20 million to create.
According to Disneyland Paris, the new McDonald’s is ‘truly unique’, offering visitors a ‘high-quality and spectacular experience’.
Eagle-eyed visitors will spot that this is actually the second McDonald’s in the Disney Village, as there’s another one located right next to the new one, but this won’t be the case for much longer.
The old restaurant, which first opened in the late 90s, has closed to make way for the brand new site. Reportedly, it wasn’t big enough to keep up with customer demand, a problem that’s now been well and truly rectified, and as such, it’s set to be demolished.
What’s so different about the world’s biggest McDonald’s?
Spanning three floors, the huge restaurant has seating for 600 people at one time, including 200 on outdoor terraces.
There are 23 self-service kiosks, a panoramic glass elevator, an ‘elegant’ McCafe, and table ordering via QR codes, as well as table service.
What’s more, all of the food is reportedly made-to-order, and across the 210 employees, staff members represent 16 different languages, so they are able to offer ‘personalised’ service to customers from around the world.
But perhaps the most exciting feature is a three-story indoor play area that’s ‘designed to extend the magic of Disney’ and ‘offer an unforgettable family experience’. It features tunnels, slides, and more.
In terms of design, there are said to be decorative elements around the restaurant inspired by beloved Disney stories, which have been blended with architectural concepts developed by McDonald’s in France.

It’s also a positive energy and carbon reducing building, featuring 250 m² of solar panels, 350 m² of green space (roof and planters), plus a 120 m² living wall promoting biodiversity and pollination.
What’s on the menu at the world’s biggest McDonald’s?
According to those who have visited already, the menu features the standard options you’ll find across McDonald’s restaurants in France.
This means there are some items you won’t find in the UK, such as the Smoky Ranch range, including a Smoky Ranch Bacon burger, as well as the McExtreme with bacon and egg, the Cheeseburger Royal, a Chicken Paprika burger, chicken wings, and potato wedges.
The McCafe will also feature breakfast favourites like croissants, pain au chocolat, and McPops (bite-sized stuffed doughnuts).
What do customers think of the world’s biggest McDonald’s?
On social media, some Disney fans aren’t so keen on the sleek design, with a Reddit user known as u/LoneServiceWolf claiming they much preferred the old restaurant at Disneyland.
They wrote: ‘Compared to the original McDonalds this one has no personality… feels so overly corporate, bland and soulless… Why Disney? Why McDonald’s?’
u/Ruben_AAG agreed, saying: ‘The appeal of Disneyland is not how clean, uncluttered and modern it is. The first area you see isn’t Minimalismland it’s Fantasyland.’
And u/ClassjeNL posted: ‘Where is the warmth, the organic shapes, the goofiness. I want to be amazed again like a child. That’s why I’m visiting theme parks like Disneyland and the Efteling. But this new McDonald’s or the Grand Hotel in the Efteling don’t offer anything to be amazed about…
‘Not saying the old McDonald’s was great, but at least it had a soul and warmth to a certain extent.’
However, not everyone felt this way, as some liked the ‘modern’ building.
u/Effective_Cancel_276 shared: ‘I like it tbh. Fits in well with the rest of the Disney Village refurbishments. I’m quite excited to see it in person in a couple of weeks.’
While u/TopCat69 thought: ‘Looks good to me. The old one feels run down and not very pleasant to be in; this looks a lot better.’
Others hailed the new McDonald’s as ‘pretty cool’, and one person even claimed on TikTok it was ‘the best McDonald’s ever’.
Where’s the second biggest McDonald’s?
Before this French McDonald’s came along, a restaurant in Orlando held the title of the world’s biggest.
It can be found at 6875 Sand Lake Road, Orlando, and spans just under 1,800 square metres of space, over three floors.
While it might have been pipped to the post in terms of size, the Florida-based Maccies looks a lot more fun than the one at the Disney Village, as it boasts a large entertainment center, which includes an arcade with over 50 games and a large indoor PlayPalace.
The restaurant also has a much more interesting menu, offering items you won’t find anywhere else, including pizza, pasta, and Philly Cheesesteaks.
What’s more, it’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
