Tortillas recalled after they could have bits of metal

Customers have been told not to eat a batch of plain tortilla wheat wraps because they might contain pieces of metal.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an urgent alert in Northern Ireland after fears over metal in the food items.

Dunnes Stores recalled its Dunnes Stores 8 Plain Tortilla Wraps ‘because of the possible presence of metal pieces,’ the food watchdog said.

What items are recalled?

The recall, which is Northern Ireland-specific, is for the pack size 512g of the Dunnes Stores 8 Plain Tortilla Wraps.

The affected packages have best before dates between May 29, 2026 and May 31, 2026.

Dunnes Stores said the information had come from its supplier Mexma Food B.V.

The company said: ‘Do not eat the affected products, instead return it to a Dunnes Stores store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required.

‘We apologise that it has been necessary to recall these products and for the inconvenience caused.’
