Waitrose has produced the ‘advert of the year’ after their ‘perfect’ Christmas campaign.

Starring Keira Knightley and Joe Wilkinson in a high-end festive short entitled The Perfect Gift, fans declared that the supermarket brand ‘won Christmas’ with their meet-cute storyline.

This time around, following a new campaign that aims to remind viewers that food is a way of life, people are calling their latest advert ‘brilliant’.

Set to the iconic Aerosmith track ‘I don’t want to miss a thing’ their new short – which is titled ‘The Gastronaut’s Chilli Prawn Linguine’ – shows an astronaut stuck in space dreaming of eating a home-cooked meal.

Surviving off of a diet that only consists of bland looking space fuel, he decides to travel all the way home for his ultimate comfort dish – prawn linguine.

Reacting to the campaign on social media, @Pelagonia_Range said on X: ‘I just want a chilli prawn linguine! The latest @waitrose ad is brilliant!’

As for those at home who fancy eating that exact prawn linguine, the recipe can be found on the Waitrose website.

Discussing the new campaign, Waitrose Chief Customer Officer Nathan Ansell said: ‘Food has a powerful way of reconnecting us with the places and moments that matter most.

‘This campaign celebrates the meals, flavours and small rituals that food lovers would go to extraordinary lengths for, even travelling across space.

‘It’s a playful way of showing just how deeply people care about the food they love, it’s not just about what you eat, it’s the people, places and memories associated with it.’

This comes after Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly faced huge criticism by a mental health charity following fierce backlash to their latest podcast promotion.

Labelled ‘reckless’ and ‘sickening’ by users on social media, the advert has now also been called ‘incredibly damaging’ by Mind, one of the leading charities in the UK offering support to people struggling with their mental health.

The Geordie TV duo uploaded their promo video to announce the launch of their latest venture in the audio space, Hanging Out with Ant & Dec.

However, the opening was called ‘triggering’ and ‘deeply disappointing’.
