Harry Styles’ former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik appeared to weigh in on his tour ticket uproar in an on-stage dig.
Harry, 31, announced his fourth studio album – Kiss All The Time, Disco, Occasionally – which is due for release on March 6, and released its first single, Aperture, last week.
But the singer has faced anger from fans who have been left frustrated over the ticket prices for his upcoming global Together, Together tour.
Tickets for Harry’s London shows at Wembley range from £44 to £466.24 for seats, while the standing prices range from £144 to £279. VIP packages cost anywhere from £468.85 to £725.
Pillowtalk singer Zayn, 33, made a dig at the backlash as he took to the stage in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, before being met with cheers from his crowd.
Pausing between songs, Zayn asked: ‘Who’s from Vegas? Who’s from elsewhere? I just want to say a big big thank you for being here with me tonight….
‘Hopefully the ticket prices weren’t too high – just saying, anyway!’
Zayn’s remarks garnered gasps and cheers from the audience, and even his band, before fans took to Twitter, with one, @kikinc64, writing: ‘The shade was real. I was there and it was pretty funny.’
While @OnTheGreenSofa wrote: ‘It truly is 2016 all over again.’
It’s no secret that Zayn faced his struggles during his time in One Direction, but the singer previously hinted at a strained relationship with Harry in particular during the height of their success.
Zayn told Us Weekly in 2017: ‘To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band. So I didn’t really expect that much of a relationship with him.’
On his other bandmates he shared at the time: ‘We’re in touch. Everything is on a civil level.
‘It’s not the way it used to be, obviously, because we were spending 24 hours a day in the band and now we’re growing as individual men, but we still check in.’
Harry is set to break records after adding two more concerts to his Wembley Stadium run, bringing it to 12 nights, in a bid to beat Coldplay’s record of 10 performances at the venue last year.
If successful, Harry will also beat Taylor Swift’s record, set on the Eras Tour in 2024, of most concerts performed at Wembley by a solo artist during a single concert run.
The global tour, beginning in May this year, will also see Harry perform in Amsterdam, New York, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Melbourne, and Sydney.
At Wembley, Styles will be supported by Shania Twain, while DJ Jamie XX, rising electroclash duo Fcukers, Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn, and Blue Lights singer Jorja Smith will also support him at other venues.
