Zendaya has jokingly quipped she’s revealed her last name while crashing a couple’s wedding in Las Vegas.

Earlier this month the American actress’ stylish Law Roach caused a frenzy after casually appearing to confirm she’d married her long-term partner Tom Holland.

The couple, both aged 29, first met in 2016 while working together on the film Spider-Man: Homecoming, and soon became an item.

Although they’ve been notoriously private about their relationship in the years since – last year reports emerged they’d become engaged after she wore a diamond ring to the Golden Globes.

While neither of them have publicly revealed if they have in fact tied the knot, this week Zendaya made a joke that has led some to speculate she may have changed her surname to that of her husband’s.

On Saturday, the actress was promoting her new film The Drama, during which production company A24 opened a one-day wedding chapel in Las Vegas for couples, with Haim’s Alana Haim also on hand as a DJ.

During the event Zendaya made a surprise appearance to celebrate one of the couples, posing for photos with the newlyweds before signing their marriage license as a witness.

But while doing so, she made a joke, telling the guests: ‘Last name reveal!’

Although clips shared on social media didn’t zoom in close enough to show what surname she’d written on the document, some have been wondering if her comment suggested she was now going by Holland.

However, many others shut down that speculation and said she was actually referring to the fact she goes by her first name – with many people are not aware her surname is Coleman.

‘I think she was joking cause most people don’t know her last name,’ user possiblyn0va posted on X.

‘Guys it’s a joke because everybody calls her Zendaya and nobody knows her last name it doesn’t mean she is a Holland now,’ blondiedaya wrote.

‘I definitely saw her hand do a C…’ charmanderstan commented.

‘Either what she said was a joke about how general folk don’t know Z’s surname is Coleman or she actually changed her married name to Holland. We will probably never know,’ Jenneration95x added.

When speaking to Access Hollywood at the Actor Awards a few weeks ago, Law was asked about Zendaya’s and Tom wedding plans when he said it had ‘already happened’. ‘You missed it,’ he told the outlet.

The actress has also since been seen wearing a gold wedding band since then.

Despite the telling sign that she and her partner have walked down the aisle, it’s unlikely they will release a statement or speak about their nuptials publicly.

However, Zendaya’s mum went on to share her own response to Law’s remarks. Posting a clip of the interview on Instagram, Claire Stoermer seemed to poke fun at his revelation, adding a laughing emoji and writing cryptically: ‘The laugh….’

Born Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, the actress’ first name derives from the Shona name Tendai, meaning ‘to give thanks’.

Her father Kazembe Ajamu Coleman is African-American with Nigerian ancestry, while her mother, Claire, has German and Scottish ancestry.

Early in her career, she dropped her surname and began going by a mononym. A decade ago, she explained the reason for her decision, sharing: ‘I just thought it was cool, like Cher or Prince.’

The actress’ next major project is starring alongside Robert Pattison in The Drama. Released in cinemas on April 3, it follows a couple who, days before their wedding, finds their relationship shaken when one ‘discovers unsettling truths about the other’.

When the trailer for the film was released last month, many declared their excitement after the ‘mysterious’ teaser left many people desperate to know the plot twist and declaring they’d be rushing to the cinemas to watch the film to find out.
