A Chinese company has gone viral after distributing almost 70% of its yearly profits among employees.
Henan Kuangshan Crane Company boss Cui Peijun laid out £19,000,000 worth of cash bonuses on banquet tables for his staff this year.
During its annual company gala on February 13, Peijun set up 800 banquet tables for his 8,000 employees, covering each in cash.
Among other awards given that evening, some employees played games where they could take whatever amount of cash they counted.
The company had a yearly profit of around £29,000,000 last year, the South China Morning Post reported.
Only £10,000,000 was left after the employee event allowed workers to take home armfuls of cash.
Peijun said: ‘It is not that I love giving out money, it is that young people are burdened with car loans and mortgages, and any relief we can offer helps.’
He also joked with the finance team onstage, who were handing out washing machines.
‘Why are we giving out washing machines? Have gold prices gone up?’ he asked.
In years prior, his company gifted necklaces and rings, along with an additional bonus in cash.
There are generous bosses in the UK as well – Benjy Leslie, 26, the CEO and founder of Connect Management, believes ‘creating the right environment helps people thrive’ and has always treated his employees well.
In the run-up to Christmas, he hosts the ‘Santa Leslie incentive’ where the employee of the day and the salesperson of the day get to pick out a present.
The gifts range from a trip to Barcelona, a Range Rover Evoque worth £44k, Ninja gadgets, an iPhone and iPads.
Leslie also treated his team to an end-of-year two-day Christmas retreat to a mansion last year, where they played sports and had an awards ceremony.
He said the party and the gifts have cost him £100,000, but says giving back is what it’s all about.
Benjy, from Willesden, London, said: ‘It’s completely crazy. It’s not even about how long you’ve been here or how senior you are. It’s about turning up to work every day and giving it your all.’
Benjy quit his job in advertising in 2019 and set up the business in 2020, and as his success has grown he has wanted to share it with his team.
And after treating his team to £20k worth of gifts last year, he decided to run the initiative for a third year running.
