Brighton Pride is getting ready for its biggest party ever to celebrate 35 years, with the one and only Diana Ross set to headline.
At 81, the legendary singer will become the oldest ever headliner for Pride on the Park when she takes to the main stage on Sunday, August 2.
For her Brighton Pride debut, Ms Ross will be belting out classic tunes like Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, Endless Love and, of course, I’m Coming Out.
She’s not the only vocal powerhouse headlining this year, as Saturday’s slot will be taken up by the unforgettable Raye.
Fans can expect a big brass band, big numbers, and almost certainly some scatting from the independent artist.
Having made history when she swept up six Brit Awards in one night, this performance will come after the release of her highly anticipated new album.
This Music May Contain Hope is set to be released on March 27, after Raye teasingly revealed she keeps going back into the studio to tweak it.
Even her number one song, Where Is My Husband, has been given an album do-over in the Escapism singer’s strive for perfection.
The festival’s managing director, Paul Kemp, said: ‘We are beyond thrilled to welcome the phenomenal Raye and the iconic Ms. Ross as our Pride on the Park 2026 headliners.
‘Having first graced our stage in 2018, RAYE’S journey over the past nine years has been nothing short of extraordinary. Welcoming the incomparable Diana Ross as our Sunday headliner, as a UK live show exclusive, is a dream come true.
‘Her legendary voice and catalogue of hits will be an unforgettable moment in Brighton Pride history.’
Ms Ross last performed in the UK at London’s O2 in July, performing hits from her 65-year career with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Maybe fans at Brighton Pride, who Metro is a long-time partner of, will be treated to a similar performance. Either way, they’re hyped.
‘Brighton Pride have well and truly outdone themselves,’ said AaronSpencer 98 on X as Selyoncerry added: ‘Diana Ross at Brighton Pride ohhhh I won.’
D Huelin said the lineup was ‘pretty iconic’, even if we only know the headliners so far.
Ellielikesmedia added: ‘Raye and Diana Ross headlining Brighton Pride??! see u there.’
Previous headliners have included Mika, Girls Aloud, Paloma Faith, Sugababes, and Mariah Carey.
The first ever official headliner was Alexandra Burke in 2012, but Brighton and Hove Pride actually began with a gay demonstration in 1972 and a full march the following year.
In 1991, the first contemporary Pride was launched, gaining popularity over the years with more than 500,000 people now set to attend.
Paul added: ‘As we proudly celebrate 35 years of Brighton & Hove Pride, we look ahead to an unforgettable weekend that honours the power of love in all its forms.
‘This year promises to be truly momentous – a joyous celebration of inclusivity, unity, and pride, and one we cannot wait to share with you.’
