EastEnders airs emotional scenes tonight as Junior Knight makes a heartfelt exit from Walford after 18 months on the Square, with his final moments already available to watch early on BBC iPlayer.
After a turbulent few weeks for the Knight family, Junior (Micah Balfour) makes the decision to leave Albert Square behind and start a new chapter in Dubai, where he plans to be closer to his young son, Xavier.
But before he goes, there are still some difficult goodbyes and more family tension to resolve.
Junior prepares to leave Walford
In tonight’s episode, Junior begins preparing for his big move overseas. Though he’s certain about his choice to be near Xavier, the emotional weight of saying goodbye to his loved ones in Walford starts to hit home.
George (Colin Salmon) determined not to part on bad terms, makes an effort to reconnect, but as ever in Walford, emotions run high before they can reach any kind of peace.
Meanwhile, Kojo (Dayo Koleosho) finds himself in a difficult situation of his own. While out shopping with Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry), he spots a familiar face from his past, leaving him visibly shaken.
Sensing something’s wrong, the girls go straight to George, who reveals that Kobina has been urging him to return to Ghana. George thinks it might be what’s best to keep Kojo safe.
When Kojo overhears the conversation, it only makes things worse. Angry and hurt, he storms out of the house, insisting he doesn’t want to go anywhere. His reaction leaves the family on edge as George begins to worry that he’s pushed him too far.
Kojo goes looking for Harry (Elijah Holloway), hoping for support, but when he knocks at Harry’s door, a troubled Harry can’t bring himself to answer. Junior spots Kojo and manages to calm him down, taking him home before things spiral.
Back at the Knights’, Junior and George clash over what to do next. George insists that sending Kojo to Ghana might be what’s best for him, but Junior strongly disagrees, telling his father that Kojo’s home is in Walford, with the family who loves him.
A final favour, and a truce
Before his departure, Junior pays a visit to Ravi (Aaron Thiara), making it clear that he won’t tolerate anyone giving Kojo grief. He warns Ravi to tell his ‘minions’ to back off, and Ravi, in a rare moment of understanding, gives his word.
Later, Junior and George finally make peace, with George admitting how proud he is of the man his son has become. The two share a poignant moment of understanding before Junior packs up his things for the last time.
Saying goodbye
Before leaving, Junior stops to say farewell to Cindy (Michelle Collins), sharing a few kind words and reflecting on how much the Square has changed since he arrived. It’s a short but heartfelt goodbye, and maybe one that hints that this might not be goodbye forever.
Finally, Junior leaves Albert Square behind, driving off into the distance after passing his car keys to Kojo as a parting gift.
Micah Balfour first appeared on EastEnders in June 2023, joining the newly introduced Knight clan alongside Colin Salmon, Harriet Thorpe, and Francesca Henry. His character, Junior, arrived as George’s eldest son, quickly finding himself at the centre of a string of emotional storylines involving loyalty, fatherhood, and old wounds resurfacing.
Tonight’s episode closes the door on his time in Walford, at least for now, with his final act being one of protection and love for Kojo.
