The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Emmerdale dated April 1. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer, right Graham Foster?

The Emmerdale character, played by Andrew Scarborough, has been confirmed as the person responsible for putting Kim Tate (Claire King) in hospital. Perhaps what was most intriguing about the moment that revealed he poisoned the matriarch, is that he isn’t acting alone in his attempt at getting rid of her.

On Monday, Kim arrived at Wishing Well ready for dinner with the Dingles. The aim was to talk and build bridges, as the two families have been at each other’s throats for most of this year.

Disaster struck towards the end of the meal, however, as Kim started struggling to breathe and then collapsed. She was sent to hospital, where resident doctor Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) shared that Kim’s symptoms matched up with mushroom poisoning.

Graham took it upon himself to try and find the culprit, which was clearly just a clever way of preventing anyone from wondering if he was responsible.

While the Dingles argued over who gave Kim the dodgy mushrooms, Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) had arrived at the hospital to see her. It was a few moments later that Jacob entered with Doctor Todd (Caroline Harker), who had some news about Kim’s test results.

She confirmed that Kim had too many painkillers in her system. The news left everyone shocked. First and foremost, it looked as though Kim had put herself in hospital but also, Doctor Todd’s news meant that Jacob had misdiagnosed her.

Kim wasn’t going to argue with Doctor Todd, and had to accept that she had accidentally overdosed on drugs.

As she reeled over the mistake, Graham was in the bathroom at Home Farm. He was on the phone to someone, confirming that the double dose of medication hadn’t worked.

He sighed, and told the person on the other end of the call that he’s going to have to find another way to get rid of his ‘pain in the neck’.

Graham’s a clever man, I’ll give him that. A couple of days ago, he found Kim at Butler’s Farm waiting for Ross Barton (Michael Parr) to pick her up. Ross forgot, so Graham returned and helped Kim, who was still suffering pain from the leg injury caused by falling off Ice the Horse over Christmas.

It was the perfect cover up. Graham had swapped Kim’s medication for a double dosage and because no-one else is around when she takes the tablets, she had no reason to suspect someone had forced her to take an overdose.

Kim blamed herself, and didn’t contemplate for a second that it was Graham.

So, what will Graham’s next move be?

And who is he working with?
