Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) both had a fight on their hands in Emmerdale today, but they were two completely different kinds.
As morning broke, Cain headed out onto the farm to check on the animals. To his horror, the roof of a barn had collapsed, and a flock of sheep were trapped inside.
He made a phone call with the instruction to rally the troops. It wasn’t just a farm emergency but a financial one as well, as Cain knew that Butler’s couldn’t afford to have a number of sheep die.
Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), Ross Barton (Michael Parr), Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) arrived and wondered how on earth they’d move all the tree branches and rubble safely, and ensure they don’t hurt any of the sheep.
Ross was extremely helpful, as he announced that he thinks they should wait for the professionals. Cain rolled his eyes so hard they went into the back of his head – they couldn’t wait for extra help, because no-one could afford to pay for it.
It left the group with no choice but to work together and hope for the best. Fortunately, it was a great success, as they managed to free the sheep before the situation got even worse.
Buzzing after a job well done, the team headed to the pub, but Cain decided to celebrate the win elsewhere.
In the prison visiting room, Cain updated Moira, who was very proud of her husband for the way he handled the situation. When Moira wondered why Cain wasn’t in the pub with everyone else, he smiled and told his wife he was exactly where he wanted to be.
As Cain glanced down, he noticed some bruising on Moira’s knuckles. She had been in a fight but it was no big deal to Moira, who will always stick up for herself during a confrontation.
The couple ended up feeling somewhat hopeful after their chat, as they reflected on how neither of them go down without a fight, whatever the circumstances. As Cain battles the Tates and faces his secret cancer journey, Moira is in prison fighting for her future.
They are both enormous ordeals, but maybe they can succeed with them after all?
