Fortnite producer who leaked Kingdom Hearts and He-Man collabs sued by Epic

A whole host of rumoured Fortnite crossovers seem more likely now that the source behind them is facing legal action from Epic Games.

Almost all of Fortnite’s big crossovers leak out ahead of any formal announcement, with the information typically being pulled from the game’s files via datamining, such as the recent crossover with The Office and a South Park collab.

It’s become routine at this point, with Epic Games’ rarely issuing any sort of public reaction to them… until now, as it’s intending to sue one Fortnite leaker in particular.

Turns out this leaker wasn’t gaining their info from datamining, but from working at Epic Games itself, as they were apparently a former contractor at the company.

‘Today we took legal action against a former contractor who repeatedly leaked confidential partner IP and trade secrets that they received while working with Epic,’ reads an X post from Epic.

‘We absolutely do not allow this and will continue to take action when Epic team members share confidential info. It harms our partners and makes it harder to bring awesome IP to our games.’

Epic has also publicly shared the court filing, identifying the leaker in question as Hayden Cohen, who served as an associate producer on various projects and was under an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) during his time at Epic.

His online handle is AdiraFN and, unsurprisingly, his X account has since been nuked. However, if Epic is suing him for damages, and he actually worked there, that presumably mean that any Fortnite info he shared is accurate, or at least it was at the time he knew about it.

A Reddit post has put together some of the franchises Cohen has previously claimed will be coming to Fortnite in the future, which includes:

  • Game Of Thrones
  • Overwatch
  • Sonic The Hedgehog
  • Ben 10
  • He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe
  • Kingdom Hearts
  • Peak

Some of these have been rumoured by other sources before. For example, reliable leaker ShiinaBR claimed an Overwatch collab was in the works last month.

A He-Man crossover also makes sense since there’s a new live action movie out in the summer, while Game Of Thrones feels like something that should’ve already happened, even if the thought of its cast of medieval fantasy characters running around with guns and doing TikTok dances seems weird.

As for the Sonic collab, Epic Games did add Sonic themed footwear to Fortnite last year, but Cohen claimed that a ‘full collab’ was in development and would ‘likely be skins’ (via Vice).

This story just happens to come after Call Of Duty insider TheGhostOfHope announced that he would no longer share info on the series, after Activision threatened legal action.

Activision did try to downplay the idea that this corroborated any leaked info, saying: ‘Even when leaks are wrong, they still hurt the people building the game and mess with player expectations.’

In its court filing reading, Epic only states that, ‘When information about an unannounced collaboration is leaked before it is officially revealed or made available in game, it undermines player excitement, damages Epic’s reputation and trust with its partners, and jeopardises future collaborative opportunities.’
