Gwyneth Paltrow suffers outfit mishap as she attends first Actors Awards in 26 years

Awards season is in full swing in Hollywood, and the great and good of Tinseltown were out on the red carpet this weekend as the Actor Awards were held. Formerly known as the SAG awards, the event marked the last notable ceremony ahead of the Oscars on March 15. And since it’s considered a major indicator of who could be taking home an Academy Award this year, it was no surprise to see the A-list out in full force — among them Gwyneth Paltrow, attending for the first time in 26 years. Because by that point the actress sported just a single earring on her right ear – sparking speculation she’d mislaid one of the valuable jewels. If Gwyneth was bothered by the possibility of having lost something so pricey, she definitely didn’t show it as she spoke about the contribution every person involved in Marty Supreme brought to the project. And as an added bonus, the actress was later seen wearing a full set of earrings — so it seems she found it after all. Did she drop it under her seat? Did it get tangled up in the tablecloth? Or was she just midway through a pirate impersonation when she was called to the stage and forgot to put it back on? However, the missing earring wasn’t the only surprise onstage at the Actor Awards. That came when her Marty Supreme co-star Timothee Chalamet – who had been widely regarded as the favourite to win outstanding actor in a leading role – was beaten to the trophy by Sinners’ Michael B. Jordan. The star also fought off competition from Ethan Hawke, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jesse Plemons to take the prize, and seemed genuinely shocked at winning the gong. After thanking his mum in his emotional acceptance speech he added: ‘I wasn’t expecting that. I’m so honored and privileged to be nominated in categories with people and actors and humans that I love, and I love their work and what they contribute to our craft and just rise to has been unbelievable. So, thank you for welcoming me in and making me feel seen.’ So has his win put him on a fast track to an Oscar? We’ll find out on March 15… (Picture: REUTERS)
