It’s not every day that people that people would recommend a series that is so harrowing that it will keep you up at night.
But for viewers of Body in the Water, which has recently been added to ITVX, fans are calling the true crime drama ‘absolutely brilliant’ despite it giving people ‘nightmares’.
Narrated by Riley Neldam, the 10-part series is a true crime documentary examining cases where police investigate murder cases after a corpse is found in a body of water.
Now streaming on the broadcaster’s platform, the UK and US murder cases stunned local communities.
With each episode roughly spanning an hour, viewers are already beginning to binge watch the free-to-watch series.
Taking to TikTok, Michelle said: ‘New True Crime series to binge watch. True crime lovers, I’ve got a true crime series for you.
‘I’ve watched the first episode, and it’s absolutely shocking what happened to that person before they went in that water, in the first one. Must have suffered a great deal.’
Commenting beneath, Dave said: ‘OMG I had nightmares about the first episode – I remember this case, that poor boy and his family.’
Sami also wrote ‘putting it on right now’ as a Yvonne added ‘starting it now’.
Looking for another ITV true crime drama?
ITV has warned viewers that the series, which features cases involving bathtubs, open waters, and swimming pools, contains ‘distressing scenes’.
Describing the show, the broadcaster said: ‘Gripping series examining the complexities of crime scenes around water. Uncover how detectives, pathologists, and police divers work together to bring killers to justice.’
It also offers a behind the scene look at what it takes for police to track down suspects.
Viewers witness water forensic experts and criminal psychologists as well as police officers working together to piece together evidence, as it also explains why killers choose to dispose of their victims in water.
The first episode explores a chilling case in Scotland after police divers training in Loch Lomond discovered human body parts.
After that, the series delves into the shocking case of how a woman’s remains were found in a duffel bag washed up on the Florida Coast.
In addition, a husband’s story is suspected of ‘not adding up’ after his wife allegedly drowned in her bathtub.
Body in the Water is available to stream on ITVX.
