Katie Price’s sister Sophie has scolded the former glamour model for ‘traumatising’ the family with her shocking wedding to Lee Andrews.
The 47-year-old star stunned fans earlier this year when she first revealed she had got engaged to a mystery man while in Dubai.
Not long afterwards, Katie confirmed the pair had already tied the knot in the emirate, with none of her family present.
Now, Katie’s sister Sophie has opened up about the emotional aftermath, revealing their mum Amy was deeply upset by the shock news.
Speaking on the sisters’ podcast, Sophie confronted Katie about the chaos surrounding her surprise marriage.
‘You, this year, have been a pain in the fking a**e,’ Sophie told her. ‘It’s not funny. Mum has been horrendous – is she talking to you yet?’
Katie insisted their relationship was still intact, saying she had recently visited her mum while she was in hospital.
‘Course she is,’ Katie replied. ‘I went and saw her in the hospital.;
Sophie explained their mum had been readmitted for treatment after developing an infection, adding: ‘Aww I know, Mum’s back in the hospital – she’s not good.’
During the episode, Katie recalled the emotional moment she saw her mum.
‘And I gave her a big hug and she cried like that…’ she said, mimicking Amy’s reaction.
Sophie later told her sister the whole family had been shaken by the sudden wedding.
‘You’ve traumatised us all – again,’ she joked, before adding more seriously: ‘Well it’s not good.’
Katie said she tried to comfort her mum during the hospital visit, telling her: ‘Come here Mum, you need a daughter hug. I love you.’
Sophie revealed Amy later called her to talk about the encounter.
‘She called me after and I was like, “How was it?” She said, “It was nice to see her.” I said, “Did you give her a b****king?” She went, “I did.” I said, “Did you cry?” She went, “Yeah.”‘
Amy has faced significant health struggles in recent years. She underwent a lung transplant in 2022 after being diagnosed with terminal idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and Katie has previously spoken about her mum having ‘up and down days’ since the operation.
It has been widely reported that Katie’s family is deeply concerned by how fast her romance with Lee is moving, especially while Lee’s exes are urging Katie to ‘run for the hills’ and question marks remain over his career.
The romance quickly raised eyebrows after Lee’s ex-partner, Alana Percival, claimed he had proposed to her just 16 weeks earlier.
Questions were also raised over Lee’s online claims, after images appearing to show him posing alongside high-profile figures, including Elon Musk and Kim Kardashian, were alleged to have been created using AI.
Other statements on his LinkedIn profile – including claims of links to the Labour Party and The Prince’s Trust – were also reportedly debunked, while previous reports alleged he had spent time in a Dubai prison asking for financial help.
Lee has continually denied that a past prison stint resulted in him being ‘banned’ from leaving the country and joining Katie in the UK on the two occasions she has flown back, but rumours continue to swirl.
Katie’s kids have yet to meet the businessman, who has lived in Dubai for over 20 years and already boasts two tattoos of her name and one of her son Harvey’s name.
Katie’s middle children Princess, 18, and Junior, 20, recently shared how they found out about their Mum’s marriage.
Speaking to The Sun, the siblings, whose father is Katie’s first ex-husband, Peter Andre, 52, revealed a message in their WhatsApp group chat rendered them ‘shell-shocked.’
‘The message Mum sent on the group chat about being engaged… I literally responded, “OMG”,’ Princess said.
‘Mum’s very impulsive, but that is impulse on a whole other level.’
As for what she knows about Lee, who has lived in Dubai for over 20 years and claims to be a multi-millionaire, the beauty influencer said she ‘doesn’t know anything.’
‘All I know is he proposed to my mum after knowing her a week.’
As for how he reacted to Katie’s message, musician Junior revealed that he wrote: ‘I’m so confused. What a bombshell.’
Despite the scrutiny, Katie appears unfazed and has continued to gush about Lee online.
The newlywed has shared loved-up posts about her husband on social media and recently returned to Dubai to spend more time with him.
