With decadent flavours ranging from pistachio to tiramisu, Lindt is the leading name in the premium chocolate market.
And now, Lindt lovers are being treated to a brand-new flavour – the ‘irresistibly smooth’ Shortbread Truffle.
Designed specifically for UK foodies and the perfect pairing for a cup of tea, the new treat is comprised of the classic milk chocolate shell we’ve come to know and love, infused with shortbread pieces.
There’s even an extra helping of milk chocolate filling in the middle, and an added layer of ‘shortbread aroma.’
Want to get your hands on a box? They’re stocked in all Lindt stores, and available exclusively on supermarket shelves at Tesco, where they’re priced at £7.50.
However, you’ll only have a few months to get your fill, as the limited edition truffle will only be available until the end of 2025. If you’re planning ahead, though, it could at least make an ideal Christmas stocking filler.
‘We understand UK consumers have a unique love for biscuits and shortbread particularly has deep roots in British culture, so it felt like the perfect crumbly treat to blend with our beloved truffles,’ said Stefan Bruderer, Master Chocolatier at Lindt & Sprüngli.
‘We love creating new and unique flavours with our iconic Swiss Chocolate.’
Naturally, Lindt fans have been losing their marbles over the news, which made it to the @newfoodsuk Instagram page.
‘Now ya talking,’ @laurenjc.xx enthusiastically penned, while @gemxcxx said that she ‘need[s] to try these.’
‘Absolutely lush,’ @dawnkev2009 added, as @jaynemant joked ‘that’s 1lb gained by just looking and thinking [about] how they’re gonna taste.’
It even attracted excitement from overseas, as @reneebellasergi said that they ‘need these in Australia so freaking bad.’
‘I love shortbread so much and with chocolate it’s just divine,’ she added, while @joellayne55 over in Canada also said they needed to ‘bring them’ over.
Not everyone was convinced, though, as @chbowen2014 spotted them early on in Tesco and ‘wasn’t fussed,’ writing that there was ‘loads of liquid’ and they ‘couldn’t taste the shortbread.’
In March, Lindt opened a brand-new megastore in London, complete with the UK’s largest Lindor Truffle Pick & Mix.
Designed as a one-of-a-kind immersive experience for chocolate lovers, the shop took the place of a former 6,000 square foot Gap store under the Piccadilly Circus lights.
Inside, Lindt lovers can expect to find exclusive gifts and souvenirs, as well as the opportunity to personalise their very own chocolate, and three of the UK’s first Lindt Master Chocolatiers.
Not able to get down to the flagship store? There are smaller, boutique chocolate shops in the likes of Bicester Village, Leeds Trinity, Manchester Arndale, and Liverpool One, as well as outlet shops in Wembley, Durham, Cheshire Oaks, Bridgend, and more.
