London’s ‘jackpot’ Too Good To Go bag is just £4 from Kensington Palace

London’s ‘jackpot’ Too Good To Go bag which costs just £4 comes from none other than Kensington Palace.

Bargain hunters are branding the three item bag ‘a steal’ after one influencer Bryce shared his haul on TikTok and racked up more than 200,000 views.

Too Good To Go bags offer customers the chance to get left-over food at a fraction of the price from major and local retailers to help reduce food waste, although what you’ll get for your money is a bit of a gamble.

TikToker Bryce headed to Kensington Palace’s café to try the ‘poshest’ Too Good To Go bag on offer, and it didn’t disappoint.

In his haul he received two large slices of chocolate cake, which he branded ‘naughty’. Next out the bag was a mezze salad with bulgur wheat, chickpeas, harissa, falafel, chargrilled peppers, pickled carrots, cabbage, humous, and mixed leaves.

Lastly, he pulled out a chicken & bacon Caesar sandwich with tomato, mixed salad leaves, and malted bread.

The food reviewer wasn’t the only one who was impressed with the royal bag, with many in the comments saying it was well worth the £4 price tag.

‘The cake alone is worth it,’ wrote one. ‘You’ve won the jackpot there,’ added another.

Others branded it ‘amazing value’ and a ‘bargain’, with one person even saying Bryce ‘won the lottery’.

The palace’s offering is even cheaper than Gail’s which offers bags for £5.99, and is the same price as Pret. It also trumps places like Harrods, where leftovers will set you back a much steeper £16.49.

But this wasn’t a fluke, with another TikToker (@Carms.bb) also trying the palace’s £4 Too Good To Go bag and sharing an equally enticing haul.

Firstly, Carms got a large slice of Victoria sponge cake, which she says was valued at £6.50, a gluten free roast chicken salad sandwich which typically costs £4, a classic BLT sandwich, also valued at £4, and an egg sandwich which was valued at £4.

If she’d bought those items at full price, she says it would have set her back £21.50, that means she saved a whopping £17.50. Talk about bang for your buck.

These savings are what you can expect if you’re trying one for yourself, with the palace café saying its bags are filled with sandwiches, pastries, paninis, and cakes.

How does Too Good To Go work?

All it takes is downloading the app, entering your location, choosing where you’d like to collect a ‘Surprise Bag’ from, finding an available time slot, and going to collect it.

You can order for later the same day, or in advance for the following morning or lunchtime.

What you get in your bag is a complete lottery – but journalist Kya Buller, 30, has found all of the food she’s picked up to be great quality, tasty, and obviously, a great deal.

She began relying on these bags after moving to Manchester’s city centre and struggling with her rent.

‘I am yet to see a single Magic Bag that costs over £5 – and I have always received a bag worth at least double the value. Usually, it’s triple,’ she says.

‘As I was using the app mainly due to financial strain, I was initially apprehensive about walking in and announcing I was waiting for a Too Good To Go bag, but often there are others doing the same – and regardless, there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

‘You’re doing a good deed, and a sustainable one at that – without your order, all of that food would just be thrown away.’

In fact, she reckons she saved £500 on food in just two years while using the app.

The Too Good To Go gamble

While these hauls are particularly enticing, you don’t always get such delicious variety in your surprise bags.

Piper Rodgers chose a box of discounted goods from Aldi on the ‘Too Good to Go’ app for £3.30, and ended up with £51.94 worth of seafood sticks.

For reference, that’s 106 individually wrapped ‘Big Sticks’, but she also bagged herself two boxes of eclairs, a bag of salad and a bag of mint.

One TikToker Flo also complained about her Too Good To Go bag when she received five lettuces and more than seven bags of cut salad, shouting: ‘What am I meant to do with this much lettuce!’

It still seems like a worthwhile gamble to us though – what do you think?
