Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Tuesday’s (April 7) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
Clare Devine (Gemma Bissix) has seemingly met a grisly end again, with the beloved villain having been pushed into the fearsome waves from a pier – by a much-loved character.
The legendary soap super villain did the impossible last year, rising from the dead 12 years after was mowed down.
Her comeback sparked chaos in the eponymous village, with her husband the ringleader of a human trafficking organisation, while Clare joined forces with a serial killer and accidentally killed her sister Grace Black (Tamara Wall).
Devastated by the death of his granddaughter, Froggy (John Middleton) called the cops on Clare, who vowed revenge, which she would succeed in carrying out, murdering her dear granddad in scenes earlier this week after she broke out of jail.
The drama continued when she kidnapped daughter Tori (Harriet O’Shea), much to the horror of Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) and Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin). With baby Joseph also in the car, Clare hightailed it out of the village in a bid to board a ferry and start a new life abroad.
Tori, however, wasn’t so keen as, despite her initial reservations about Sienna, she had ultimately fallen in love with her life in the village and thus notified her grandmother of their location.
With some assistance from Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas), Sienna successfully traced Clare’s whereabouts. With Tori now safe, Sienna pleaded with Clare to hand over baby Joseph, urging her not to hurt the infant.
Devastated by Tori’s reaction to her, Clare fought tears and handed over Joseph, before taunting Sienna, who struggled to resist her inner darkness as Clare pushed all her buttons.
In another life, these two would have been wonderful allies and they make for delicious adversaries, with a high-octane showdown acted stupendously by stars Gemma Bissix and Anna Passey, making for some of the show’s finest work in some time.
Clare reminded Sienna of her biggest secret – that she pushed Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) to his death – and implied that Sophie would end up just like her.

Seeing red, Sienna pushed Clare from the cliffside. The villain, undoubtedly one of soap’s finest ever, plummeted to the icy depths below and out of sight.
Sienna was left reeling as she realised what she had done – all the more so because Sophie had witnessed the incident, while a confused Cleo arrived just seconds after, puzzled by what unfolded.
Has Sienna claimed yet another one of the Channel 4 soap’s greatest characters? If so, is Clare Devine – THE Clare Devine – really dead?
Last time we actually saw a body and she still managed to come back for more chaos, so we can live in hope. But either way, how will Sienna be able to explain her actions to Cleo, who is already starting to have doubts about the darkness within the Blake clan?
