A Florida man pulled over by a police officer for allegedly driving at 107mph gave as his excuse that he was running late for a haircut.
Michael Stanek, 57, was trailed and pulled over by a deputy on Interstate 95 near State Road 100 in Palm Coast, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
Dashcam footage shows Stanek pulling over to the right shoulder of the highway after hearing the sirens and stopping in a grassy area.
The deputy’s body camera footage shows Stanek, who has the top of his convertible Corvette down, stepping out, getting handcuffed and standing behind his sports car.
After patting Stanek down and confirming he isn’t carrying any weapons, the deputy reprimands him.
‘Going 107, weaving in and out of traffic,’ says the deputy.
‘Why you going so fast?’
Stanek replies: ‘I have an appointment with my barber.’
The deputy says in shock: ‘You have an appointment with your barber?’
‘In New Smyrna,’ Stanek says.
When the deputy says, ‘So you go a hundred and seven miles an hour,’ Stanek replies, ‘I’m sorry.’
The deputy continues: ‘Weaving in and out of traffic putting other people’s lives in danger… Now you get to go to jail for the night.’

Stanek asks why he will be behind bars for the night, and the deputy informs him that driving over 100mph is a criminal infraction under the state’s new ‘super speeder’ law.
The law makes it a misdemeanor to go more than 50 mph over the speed limit, or 100mph. The speed limit on the highway was 70pmh.
‘You know, criminals go over 100mph,’ says the deputy. ‘Your car will be towed and you’re going to jail.’
‘I didn’t know that,’ says Stanek.
The deputy tells him, ‘Well, you do now.’
Stanek was taken to Flagler County jail and booked in around 7.30pm on September 23. He posted a $150 bond and was released an hour-and-a-half later.
But he appeared to not fully regret speeding to try to make his hair appointment.
Stanek said ‘he would have kept it at 99mph if he had known’ about the law, according to a charging affidavit obtained by The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
A social media user remarked about the weird incident: ‘We need to know the barber, tho, haircuts must be DARN good.’
Since the law took effect on July 1, the sheriff’s office has arrested five alleged offenders and the highest speed recorded was 116mph.
