A disturbing video appearing to show a woman being dragged away from a home as she screams for help has been released by police in an appeal for help. The short 20-second clip, seemingly captured by a doorbell camera or home security camera, shows a man grabbing a woman in the entrance way of a home and pulling her down a garden path and out of sight as she loudly screams (Picture: Wichita Police)
Wichita Police in Kansas shared the video on social media last night (October 13) to appeal for public help to identify and locate the woman. The force said she was last seen ‘being taken by force’ on Sunday, October 12, at approximately 2am in the 1400 block of North Volutsia (Picture: Wichita Police)
The woman, who is wearing all black, is grabbed from behind by a man wearing a dark T-shirt, blue jeans and light shoes. She yells out before he forcibly turns her away from the house and walks her back toward the street and out of view, when further unidentifiable sounds can be heard (Picture: Wichita Police)
Police have not yet been able to identify the two people seen in the video. Following the original appeal for information, Wichita Police posted an update, saying: ‘We’ve worked throughout the day on this investigation, following up on numerous leads, and we appreciate the public’s help. At this time, we have not been able to identify the female and male seen in the video’ (Picture: Wichita Police)
‘Exploring all options, we’ve reached out to our regional and federal law enforcement partners for additional assistance. Our team has processed the audio, reducing background noise, hoping that someone will recognize her voice. Please take a moment to review the video’ (Picture: Wichita Police)
‘If you recognize either of these individuals, call detectives at 316-268-4407 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.’ Police also said they were aware of a call from Oklahoma which could have been connected to the case, but determined that this was unrelated (Picture: Wichita Police)
Fox News say investigators are ‘continuing to analyse the video frame by frame, looking for any details that could help identify the people involved’ but had no significant updates to report at this stage. Metro has contacted Wichita Police for comment (Picture: Wichita Police)
