Three people are dead after a shooter opened fire inside a high school hockey game in Rhode Island.

Aidan Dorgan, 23, was killed alongside his mum, Rhonda, 52, at a Rhode Island hockey game by Robert Dorgan, who went by the name Roberta Esposito.

It’s been confirmed that the victims, Rhonda and Aidan Dorgan, were the suspect’s ex-wife and oldest son.

Rhonda’s youngest son, Colin, 17, watched the shooting unfold while playing on the ice.

Colin and his other sister, Ava, have been left orphaned after Dorgan took his own life as well in the shooting.

Colin and Ava’s stepsister, Amanda Wallace-Hubbard, has set up a fundraiser for the pair to help fund their living costs and education.

Police identified the gunman who killed two people and critically injured three others at a high school hockey game in Rhode Island on Monday afternoon as Robert Dorgan and revealed he went by a female name. The 56-year-old father, who shot family members and a family friend before he turned the gun on himself following the deadly rampage at the Pawtucket ice rink, used the alias Roberta Esposito, Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves said during a press conference Monday night. ?We have also learned that the person does go by the name of Roberta, also uses a last name of Esposito.? Dorgan is the father of a North Providence High School senior who was competing in the hockey tournament, local station WPRI reported. The suspected shooter sat near the back of the stands on the home team?s side during the game before he moved to the front and opened fire at four family members and one family friend, the outlet reported. The student?s mother and sibling were among the dead, multiple sources told the outlet. The mother of Dorgan?s child died inside Lynch Arena, while the sibling died at the hospital, according to the sources. Three victims are still in critical condition as of Monday night.

‘The weight of this loss is something no one should ever have to bear, especially at such young ages,’ she said.

‘Despite the pain, Ava and Colin are determined to continue their education and build a life that honours the memory of our loved ones.’

Yesterday, the shooter was identified as Dorgan, 56, a transgender woman who went by the name Roberta Esposito.

A woman who claimed to be Dorgan’s daughter said the shooter had ‘mental health issues’.

There’s still no clear motive, but court documents obtained by local news station WPRI showed that Dorgan had argued with family over gender identity issues previously.

Four victims were taken to the hospital. An employee at the Walgreens nearby told Target 12 that fans came charging into the pharmacy in a panic, saying there was a shooting.

The employee said they called 911 and hid terrified families inside the store.

Pawtucket is nestled just north of Providence and right under the Massachusetts state border.

A town of just under 80,000, Pawtucket had up until recently been known as the home to Hasbro’s headquarters.
