Activision is hosting a beta before the official launch of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7, so here’s how you can get involved.
While it feels like the momentum has been behind Battlefield 6 over recent months, it’s way too early to count out Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Activision’s upcoming shooter, which is set to launch on November 14, serves as a successor to Black Ops 2, at least in terms of story, with several returning maps and a narrative which picks up in the aftermath of its campaign.
As with any Call Of Duty, however, the bulk of the focus is on the multiplayer, and players can try it out this week before the game’s launch. So if you have time to spare, and an urge to perfect a kill/death ratio, here’s what you need to know about the Black Ops 7 beta.
When does the Black Ops 7 beta start?
There are two beta windows for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7, with an early access period, which isn’t open to everyone, and an open beta, which is. You can check out the start and end times below.
- Early access: Thursday, October 2 at 6pm BST to Sunday October 5 at 6pm BST.
- Open beta: Sunday, October 5 at 6pm BST to Wednesday, October 8 at 6pm BST

This means the early access period rolls into the open beta, so there’ll be no downtime inbetween. You can download the beta from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Battle.net, or Steam.
How to join the Black Ops 7 early access beta
To gain access to the first beta weekend, you’ll need to have either pre-ordered Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 across PlayStation, Xbox, or PC, or subscribed to Xbox Game Pass.
Digital pre-orders and Game Pass subscribers should automatically be granted access to the beta on your respective platform, but if you’ve received a code through a physical pre-order, you’ll need to redeem it at the website here.
What modes and maps are in the beta?
The early access weekend will feature four maps in the traditional multiplayer, along with a Zombies Survival map called Vandorn Farm. The open beta, meanwhile, will include all of these along with two more traditional maps, in Blackheart and Toshin.
In terms of modes, there will be five in total, including staples like Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Kill Confirmed. The only new addition is Overload, a mode where two teams compete to take over enemy zones with a device you have to carry towards each objective.
