This article contains spoilers for tonight’s (Monday, March 2) Coronation Street, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on YouTube and ITVX.
Carla Connor (Alison King) was put in a difficult position in tonight’s Coronation Street when niece Connie was left on her doorstep.
After Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) had clarified the baby’s identity and revealed that she had agreed to take her in temporarily, Carla was horrified and stormed out, leaving Lisa literally holding the baby.
Having discussed the situation with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), Carla headed back home to explain her reaction to her fiancé.
In an emotional scene, Carla opened up to Lisa about the devastating miscarriage she suffered in 2014.
Coronation Street viewers will recall that Carla found out she was pregnant shortly after marrying Peter Barlow, and the news came as a major shock.
With the support of best friend Michelle Connor, Carla booked an appointment for a termination, but ultimately decided not to go through with it, opting instead to have the baby.
Unfortunately, Carla had a lot of stress to deal with during her pregnancy, which she told Lisa she believed had an impact on her losing her baby.
Not only had husband Peter Barlow relapsed and taken to drinking once again – even missing one of Carla’s scans – he was also having an affair with babysitter Tina McIntyre.
Eventually, Peter came clean, leaving Carla devastated, though there was worse still to come.
That same night, Tina was brutally attacked after being pushed off her balcony, before later dying of her injuries.
Having expressed her rage at Peter and Tina’s betrayal in front of all her neighbours in the Rovers, Carla was the prime suspect, and was intensely questioned by police.

The local force were also suspicious of Peter Barlow, and soon the focus of their investigation turned to him.
Tragically, in the midst of this, Carla suffered a miscarriage at five months pregnant, leaving her heartbroken.
Later, it transpired that brother Rob Donovan had been Tina’s true killer, and Carla expressed to Lisa that she couldn’t believe he had the nerve to leave her looking after his kids when he had contributed to her loss.
Corrie fans were left in tears at the emotional scene, taking to social media site Twitter/X to share their praise.
Although Carla was concerned about her lack of knowledge when it comes to babies, Lisa promised to help her take care of baby Connie, pointing out the challenges that can come with placing kids into the care system.
It seems as though Connie is set to make herself at home at No.6, at least for now, but will it all go smoothly?
With Connie’s grandmother expecting to take the baby back after her hospital stay, could Carla and Lisa be set to grow attached and end up fighting to keep Connie with them?
