Driver mounts curb and hits pedestrians with 10 injured and several critical

Tens of thousands people protested for the 14th day of protests against the pensionreform law, which delay retirement by two years to 64 and was pushed through parliament by the government without a vote. During the protest riot police violently charge at protesters to cut the cortege in two. Policemen used batons, tear gas canisters, pepeer spays and made several arr'ests. At least two people stayed KO on the ground and have been arrested. However the Constitutional Council said the same evening that the pension bill is constitutionnaly valid. Polls still show 93% of workers oppose the pension reform. The retirement age would be raised to 64 years (for 43 years of continued work) and the pensions will be lower specially for women, 'short careers' and low wages people. Toulouse. France. The incident happened on the touristic French island of Ile d’Oleron, off the Atlantic coast

Two people are fighting for their life and several more are wounded after a driver rammed into pedestrians in southwest of France.

French interior minister Laurent Nuñez confirmed the incident on X: ‘This morning, a motorist struck several pedestrians and cyclists on his route in Saint Pierre d´Oléron and Dolus d’Oléron.

‘Two victims are in absolute emergency and 3 other people are injured. The suspect has been taken into custody by the gendarmes. An investigation has been opened.

‘At the request of the Prime Minister, I am heading to the scene.’
